Sydney Airport adds more delightful pre-flight bites

Having elevated preflight dining in 2023 with Luke Mangan’s standout Luke’s Bistro & Bar, Sydney Airport is now bringing many more upscale eateries to Terminal 3, home to Qantas and its regional arm QantasLink.

Maggio’s opened its Airport store recently. It will be followed a dozen eateries including Slim’s Quality Burgers and RaRa Ramen, both of which already have stores in Sydney metropolitan area.

In-N-Out Burger has axed the number 67 from its ordering system after the viral “6-7” meme wreaked havoc on its stores, according to reports.

The West Coast burger chain retired the double-digit numeral from its orders after eager internet-brained adolescents regularly waited for the number to be called, an employee at a Los Angeles location confirmed to People.

Speaking of portion balance, I notice a couple of fast food outlets have offered value meals which are aimed at a single person, but have too many items that they are not able to finish in one go.

Sydney’s Quay restaurant will close on Valentine’s Day (February 14) 2026, after more than 26 years of trade.

Ed Halmagyi’s harrowing antisemitic incident just hours before Bondi shooting as he closes bakery Avner’s over safety fears

Sydney-based Jewish bakery owner Ed Halmagyi has detailed the horrific antisemitic attacks he has faced which have led him to close his business to protect his family.

The bagel shop run by Jewish celebrity chef Mr Halmagyi will shut down after two gunmen allegedly opened fire on a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach on Sunday, killing 15 victims and injuring another 40.

Mr Halmagyi told patrons his Surry Hills store Avner would be permanently shutting up shop in a flier stuck to the store front.

Ben and Jerry’s has opened its first Australian Sundae Shack in-line store at Melbourne’s Hardware Lane.

Apparently KFC have started to trial breakfast options at their Sydney airport location.

Back to the future? Correct me if I am wrong but didn’t KFC do breakfast options back in the 90s.

I believe it was only in Queensland back in the mid 90s.

But on the subject of KFC outlets i think they should be more concerned about the cleanliness of their outlets.

There was a store in Ballarat that had breakfast menu in the last 10 years or so. The menu wasn’t as elaborate as what Sydney Airport offers though.

KFC stores in Hong Kong do offer breakfast. This photo showed an instore menu from 2021 showing various combos. Choices included toasts, pineapple buns, scrambled eggs, hash brown, cheese and ham burger, and macaroni in soup.

Items and prices have changed since then but it gives you an idea.

KFC also back in the 1990’s had an all You Can Eat Buffet at some stores. Also is Pizza Hut going to start building more Pizza Hut All You can Eat Buffet Restaurants in Austràlia again?

Unless Pizza Hut can make money out of more than the eight dine-in restaurants still operating (three in NSW, three in QLD, one in VIC, one in TAS), I strongly doubt it.

Something Homer Simpson may eat!!!

KFC in Hong Kong are currently promoting special menu items including okonomiyaki inspired chizza (two pieces of crunchy breast fillet covered with an okonomiyaki topping - sauce, Japanese mayonnaise and bonito shavings), hazelnut chocolate egg tarts and honey mustard chicken range.

McDonald’s is set to launch new menu items tomorrow (January 14) for a limited time. This will include the return of the El Maco range and Milo McFlurry, while adding the Milo Shake as a new item.

Haven’t touched maccas for a long time, but recently had a bg mac and filetofish, my go to in the 90s,

Well apparently some idiot is making Macca’s healthy, by making it dry, tasteless and poor value, bring back old McDonald’s and dump the loser franchisees.

Maybe your memories of Maccas are purely nostalgic and it actually always tasted bad but you didn’t know any better, at the time.

The new store opened today for its first day of trading and, interestingly, it operates 24/7. It’s so new it hasn’t even appeared on Google Maps yet.
