Celebrity chef Guy Grossi is selling Melbourne fine dining institution Grossi Florentino and other restaurants after more than 25 years running the high-profile venue.
All three restaurants within the Florentino building on Bourke Street – Grossi Grill, Cellar Bar and Grossi Florentino – are included in the sale. The new owners will be announced shortly.
The sale comes eight months after this masthead published an investigation that revealed a history of sexual harassment allegations raised by female staff and industry leaders against Grossi and his staff.
Multiple hospitality industry sources, who could not be named because they were not authorised to speak publicly, confirmed Grossi had sold the venues, and claimed the buyer is Edition Hospitality Group, led by Rebecca Yazbek, who runs Nomad restaurant and Reine & La Rue in Melbourne and other venues in Sydney.

I had the new GYG Caesar Burrito for lunch today, it was really nice!
This might/might not be of interest to anyone, but found this original McDonalds breakfast menu from when it was first launched in Australia in 1987.
Speaking of McDonald’s, I notice my local store has recently installed a new banner, proclaiming its status as the first Macca’s in Victoria (and the second overall in Australia).
It first opened its doors on September 12, 1973.
Interesting that Mcdonald’s breakfast was only Saturday & Sunday when it was first introduced.
I assume the ‘Egg McMuffin’ is like the US usage of that now, having the slice of ham/Canadian bacon in it without calling it ‘Bacon and Egg’ like we do now.
I’m assuming the original was bulldozed and replaced with a new store?
Yes, the restaurant was demolished and rebuilt in 2016.
Glen Waverley in the outer eastern area of metro Victoria area also boast suburban Victoria’s oldest David Jones store that Opened May 22 of 1996.
Shane, should have kept it for historical reasons.

From a steak dinner at the pub to a fish-and-chips takeout, South Australians are in line for thousands of free $50 meal vouchers in a bold new bid to get them out and dining at restaurants battered by the state’s rolling algal bloom crisis.
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas announced the $15m program on Monday morning, saying it had been devised with the federal government to stimulate demand in coastal communities confronting a downturn in visitor numbers ahead of the crucial summer travel season.
The program will allocate 60,000 vouchers through a public ballot each month from November.
The cashback vouchers cover $50 at eligible establishments located in communities hit by the bloom.
“Spend $100, you get $50 back,” Mr Malinauskas said.
The City of Sydney council has knocked back a proposal for a McDonald’s in King Street, Newtown.
I’m not sure if there was a mention in here that Shake Shack will be setting up at the Australian Open this year, which is an interesting move.
Shake Shack is already one of the pricier takeaways overseas. I have had it a few times. I was in Dubai early September, where take away food in Malls is similar priced to here (some even slightly cheaper). A Shake Shack meal (with burger, fries and a shake) cost me an equivalent of around $32 AUD. Given prices are generally higher at the Australian Open I can’t imagine what they’ll be charging but they will probably have very limited options.

I thought I heard (on radio) they were opening up a store in Melbourne next year?
Is this what they were referring to?
At this stage I believe it’s just a pop-up at the Australian Open.
They have done this before in Sydney and Melbourne. They launch pop up stores for a limited time.
Just bite the bulletin and launch a real store in Australia.
