Speaking of El Jannah, it opened its newest restaurant on Swanston Street in Melbourne CBD on June 27. It is located near Bourke Street Mall, in the space previously occupied by a Woolworths Metro store.

Pretzels used to be huge about 20-30 years ago. There was a Pretzel World in almost every shopping centre across Australia. They did big sweet and savoury pretzels. I was obsessed with both types at one stage. The smell of the pretzels baking in the ovens was very enticing.

This one at Penrith is apparently still around but looks different these days. There were also some other branded pretzel shops back then.

I remember one being at Macarthur Square years ago. Its no longer there sadly.

We have Pretzel nearby and can confirm both the smell and taste is absolutely delicious.

Toi Shan Restaurant in Bendigo will permanently close next Wednesday, July 30. It began as On Loong in the early 1890s.

A controversial new fast-food outlet less than 100 metres from a Mornington Peninsula beach has won approval after almost six years of resistance from hundreds of residents and the local council.

A BP service station on the foreshore at Safety Beach, along the Nepean Highway, will be redeveloped to include a 24-hour convenience food store and drive-through after a successful appeal to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Council has twice rejected applications by the site owners, AA Holdings, for a larger service station and new takeaway outlet after both bids drew a total of about 1500 objections from the community.

VCAT has also previously blocked the proposal until ultimately approving it this month. The applicants first sought council permission for their plan in 2019.

The tenant for the new store is yet to be decided, however residents believe it will end up as a McDonald’s outlet.

The service station is zoned residential and more than 500 metres from other food businesses, however, under planning rules, a convenience restaurant is permitted in the area.

AA Holdings has more than 50 BP outlets across Melbourne. Company records show it generated $864 million in revenue in 2024.

Apparently Wendy’s is about to open in Bayswater (Melbourne).

Is this their second store?

Odd location.

Yep the first one is in the Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise).

When Carl’s Jr. first opened in Melbourne it chose an outer suburb too.

I heard Bayswater and Brisbane CBD are next. Then also Caroline Springs in Melb.

Last Saturday i had a chicken and gravy roll from Henny Penny

These things were famous in Newcastle though i think they have fallen victim to shrinkflation. They are smaller than I remember.

Though when it comes to Henny Penny and the Western Australian based Chicken Treat. I’m still trying to figure out who’s a carbon copy of who.

It has taken them awhile to open a second store. Clearly trying to fine tune things before launching more stores.

I see Grilld has opened a Drive Thru store in Altona North today. In the old Carls Jnr store by the looks of it.

Henny Penny are good, it’s been a while since I’ve had that. It doesn’t help that there aren’t as many stores as there used to be. My local one in Charlestown closed probably 8 years ago now. Same with Darbys Pies.

Has anybody tried the Big Arch that McDonalds have put out? To me it looks like a carbon copy of a big mac but with a couple of different types of cheese. Would hope its the size of what a Big Mac use to be

Consumption of sugar-sweetened drinks also increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, and the link between the two is often explained through obesity.

However, the study found the link between artificial sweeteners and diabetes remained strong even after adjusting for body weight, indicating artificial sweeteners could directly impact metabolism.
