Fast Food/Takeaways and Restaurants

Its incredibly inconsistent - you get the occasional decent cup, but they’re few and far between. The speed at which they turn out coffee has to be a massive factor in this.

HJ’s must want to cash in from the explosion of drive-thru coffee joints

Canberra/Queanbeyan was the test market for Jack’s Cafe (they’ve been in place since 2019) and more recently the fried chicken burgers, ahead of national rollouts.

There have been various ‘test’ Jack’s Cafe’s in stores in and around Sydney going back a couple of years at least.

Yes they are quite late to the game and the few time’s I’ve had it it was still very average at best. Had a coffee from Carl’s Jr last week and it was better than Jack’s. Goes for much of their offering though really

yeah the only good thing about mccafe is avalablity. when i was doing my degree and doing all nighters being able to get a semi-decent coffee at 2am was the big draw.

Lots are now going to servos for coffee as its cheap and half decent and available 24/7. I occasionally do night shift in a servo and coffee is very popular for shift workers

They’ve just finished the nationwide rollout after a few test stores around the place in recent years.

Makes sense to have a better coffee offering for drive-thru, I just like that I can get something like an Iced Long Black from Maccas and HJs now with little effort. The quality is no different from other drive-thru coffee alternatives like Muzz Buzz.

You will have notice that Jacks Cafe signage has largely replaced “Open 24 Hours” signage though, with HJs trading hours reverting across the country back to what it was in decades past with exception to a few locations.

Had to look that one up. Only in Quokkaland.

Yes, the phrase ‘any port in a storm’ comes to mind when in need of an early morning caffeine bomb.

Are HJs no longer 24 hours?

Doesn’t look like it. The 3 closest to me are all 6am to 10pm

Burger King here mostly close around 10pm, while some Maccas are 24/7.

That’s probably true of many fast food outlets in CBD like places late at night

Only a small handful from what I’ve seen, and only weekends. Very recent change as most were still 24/7 earlier in the year.

Tasmanian’s no longer need to load up on Krispy Kreme at Melbourne airport they will be sold in BP servos.

So bizarre that these donuts haven’t been available in Tasmania. You can get them everywhere in Victoria. They’ve kind of lost their unique touch these days.

Traditionally KK haven’t sold in markets where they don’t have production available in a capital city within the same state.

It’d be a shame to have a country of healthy people!

First its lettuce, now its the beef patties.

Sounds like McD’s have to change their Big Mac jingle.

As mentioned by Archie Thompson on 10’s football coverage tonight, 7-Eleven this week launched its new Johnny’s Deli sandwich range at its store at Bridge Road, Richmond in inner Melbourne. Initially, eight different sandwiches will be available for between $9-$11 at the Richmond store, before extending to eight other stores by the end of this year.
