Fast Food/Takeaways and Restaurants

The blurb is the same on the US website. It appears to be available in many countries around the world, including in South Korea, where this woman tasted the original McDonald’s Korea sauces and the BTS sauces and concluded that they are identical.

This is interesting…

Hungry Jack’s registered this trademark back in January. There are some Burger King’s around the world that offer fried chicken, so it’d be interesting to see their recipe fair.

Not particularly bold prediction: Another Big Jack-style lawsuit will eventually happen if Hungry Jacks takes this product to market and promotes it as JFC!

An outfit called Japan Food Company already owns the JFC trademark, so that may not happen?

I doubt it. Grill’d already advertise theirs as HFC.

Grill’d even runs adverts that parodies the “Did somebody say KFC?” campaign.

Diners who spend between $50 and $500 at hospitality venues within the City of Melbourne’s boundaries are eligible to claim back a portion of their total bill, until funds from an available kitty of $8.4 million are exhausted. So first come, first served, or rather, first served, first reimbursed.

To make a claim, upload a tax invoice (an itemised receipt including the business’ ABN) at money.melbourne.vic.gov.au and if approved, funds will be returned to your nominated account within five business days. See melbourne.vic.gov.au for more information.

I don’t see all the fuss with Hunky Dory. I ate it for the first time yesterday and it’s really just a glorified Fish and Chip shop. You end up paying an arm and a leg for a tasteless product.

You’ll be better off going to your local Fish and Chip shop if you want quality.

I get my grilled fish and chips or ceumbed calamari from Steve Costi’s Famous Fish. They cook them so well at East Village in Zetland. I’ve noticed they have opened a new or expanded shop at Broadway Shopping Centre and there’s also one at the new South Eveleigh precinct.

We had a Steve Costi’s Famous Fish here in Geelong but it didnt last long. It was good but no better than a local fish and chip shop, which there are plenty of good ones around

I tried their fish and chips years ago and they were nothing special but these days they are great. The fish is cooked perfectly and they use great seasoning. Their chips are the best I’ve tasted, crunchy on the outside and fluffy soft inside.

With signage this old, I cannot trust the food. This is the Marrickville store in Sydney’s inner west.

I suppose if Hollywood ever wanted to film a post nuclear war apocalypse movie, this signage would make a good backdrop.

I never used to understand the fuss either and sure it is overpriced… but I like that I can get a “healthier” version of Fish and Chips there and it’s still delicious. I always go for the grilled fish pack with brown rice and salad. Yum yum.

I trust the brand more than I trust signage.

If an unknown brand eg a local cafe, overall store presentation counts for more than just signage with me.

I always judge a cafe or restaurant by how clean the windows are…

First impressions mean a lot more than people give credit for, especially when it comes to food.

Carl’s Jnr have started advertising ‘… now in Melbourne’… even though they’ve been here for some time. Are other states getting this?

The price of Big Mac will temporarily drop to 50c tomorrow (June 18) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of McDonald’s Australia. However, you will only get the special price when you order the burger on the MyMaccas app.

Still no stores in Western Australia. I liked Carl’s when I was in Melbourne a few years ago.

Shame it’s just for Australia only. Hope they do something like this for Maccas NZ’s 50th in 2026.
