I tried one earlier in the week as well but found it a bit bland and flavourless. Probably won’t go back for a second.
I had one today for lunch too. My indicator of heat is when I start to sweat and it does pack a bit of punch. ![]()
I’ve had the (unfortunate) experience of tasting hot wings with a sauce made from Carolina Reapers, so my spice tolerance is a bit whack.
I had a McSpicy for lunch today. It was pretty spicy and I needed to a whole medium cup of Sprite to wash it down. The burger was tasty though.
I will be back later to try the Chicken Parmi burger and fries with chicken salt packet.
You won’t regret trying the Chicken Parmi burger, it’s pretty good!
The Victorian Government announced this afternoon that food courts in shopping centres across Melbourne could reopen from 11.59pm tomorrow (October 27) but with seating limits. Indoor food courts will have a maximum of two people per table, venue limited to the lesser of 25% of a venue’s fixed seating capacity or a density quotient of one person per eight square metres. This would be subject to regular cleaning and taking of names.
The new arrangements could prove problematic for some food courts which have no designated area (such as the one in Chadstone shopping centre near Target, which is basically part of a thoroughfare).
Nevertheless it’s good news for hundreds of takeaway outlets which had been forced to close since the start of second wave in June.
The rest of the country has had similar restrictions on food courts. Westfield and others companies with a portfolio of centres will already have those plans in place to roll out in Victoria. All the others would have been planning for this too.
The limited edition burgers will be sold in 13 stores across New South Wales and Queensland from November 3rd to November 11th for $9.95
They look disgusting with those food dyes.
I suppose I should be thankful that there are no actual canetoads or cockroaches in them. I hope not anyway.
A soon to be opened Taco Bell at Roxburgh Park in Melbourne’s North. Formally a Red Rooster location.
These images were taken from the back of the building. I was unable to get around the front of the store but the signage is up and ready to go.
The Red Rooster playground has been removed and looks like it has been replaced by outdoor seating.
Oporop
Looks like a much more basic conversion than previous examples.
Orpoop
There’s an Oporto near me that’s taking over an old Red Rooster, a lot seem to be shutting down.
Don’t tell me what to do
Almost all the Oporto conversions in Perth have either since closed down (many of those that closed are now Zambrero locations) or have been converted back to RR or Chicken Treat.
Interesting to hear they’re still trying to convert them over east.
I wonder if the parent company of these chicken fast food outlets has done some research and found that the Red Rooster/Chicken Treat brands resonate best with WA while the Eastern States prefer Oporto?
I think the location to open a Taco Bell at Roxburgh Park is probably a good one. It’s different. There’s a McDonalds, KFC, Hungry Jacks and Oporto basically in the same area.
I’m not a fan of Oporto. In Melbourne, they opened a stand alone store at Roxburgh Park and not long after that a store just down the road at Broadmeadows Central in the food court. Both stores are still operating.
Only 5 in Perth. Wonder why it hasn’t taken off in WA?
Belmont and Morley became Zambrero
Mirrabooka has become Chinese
Clarkson has become Zareffas Coffee
Carillion has shut due to redevelopments
Hillarys has shut during Covid.
Oporto’s competitor Nando’s started in Perth does quite well, so there is certainly an appetite for that type of take away in WA.
Three of the four Nandos in Canberra shut down a few years ago.
We’ve also had three Oporto stores open in the last two years or so - two were new builds and one replaced a Red Rooster
Much to my disappointment. I love Nandos.
