Family Food Fight

Even as the current season struggles for ratings in Australia, there will be a Danish version of the show next year.

Which probably means that this show will be back next year

The show could very well work overseas. I actually don’t think it’s that bad, it just doesn’t work here because we already have two very successful long running cooking competition shows.

So why did you stuff it up by mucking around with the format?

Doubt it.

Rubbish. It was starting to gain traction as a show involving a team of family members but you stuffed it up.

I don’t know why Nine are so persistent with making a cooking show work. Move on. Try another format.

To Adrian Swift, you shouldn’t believe in food shows when there are already two established ones in the market.

This means nothing. Like I said above just because there could be a market for a cooking competition show overseas doesn’t mean that it will work here. We have had them flogged to death and the only ones that get an audience are the originals.

Exactly. Try something new.

It seems they just want to try and break MKR by having their own version. They didn’t need to (they have MAFS) and I’m glad it’s blowing in their face.

There’s always an argument for saturating the market and overexposing the genre so that viewers become sick of all cooking shows.

Food shows earn plenty of brand/placement tie-ins. Simple.

Yeah. It seemed like Australian Ninja Warrior may have been damaged by having shows like Cannonball and then Australian Spartan on air.

Even though Married at First Sight and Bachelor isn’t fazed by the over-saturation of dating shows.

But Seven seem to struggle to launch their own dating show. Its like 10 as well. They have tried their hand in the renovation genre and it didn’t work. Perhaps 2 of the one genre is just enough and the other network needs to try something different.

Not only are there now two full food based multichannels but next year there will be a second (abridged) season on MKR to further saturate the food genre market, so I think Nine would be best to exit now.

All star version of Married to combat MKR?

That would have to be ‘Married’ at Second Sight

THE GILES SISTERS CROWNED WINNERS OF FAMILY FOOD FIGHT

Sunshine Coast sisters Bec and Nicole Giles have been crowned Australia’s Number One Food family in the second series of Family Food Fight on Nine.

Show host, acclaimed chef and restaurateur Matt Moran, announced the result tonight after a hard-fought battle, handing over the title, trophy and the coveted $100,000 prizemoney.

In the finale, the Giles sisters overcame the WA-based Tartaglia family, brothers-in-law Cory and Leon, to be crowned winners of the competition.

Both families were tasked with cooking delicious dishes inspired by three simple words from the judges: Unforgettable, Family and Gold. The Giles sisters impressed the judges with their creative finale-worthy menu, just edging out the gents’ similarly impressive efforts.

Their winning dishes consisted of a Burmese pork belly curry with sticky rice, pickled garlic and chilli, a pasta dish accompanied by bottarga and clams, and a chocolate Guinness cake for dessert, served with chocolate ganache, muscovado and malt ice cream.

The dessert was enough to clinch the win for the girls following a deadlock after the first two dishes. Bec and Nicole were crowned to the cheers of their loved ones and fellow competitors.

The Giles sisters went from strength to strength through the competition, taking inspiration from a world of cuisine including Vietnamese, Korean, Mexican, Italian and Chinese. After winning the first Game Changer challenge early on and surviving dessert chef Anna Polyviou’s incredible-yet-dreaded creations, the girls earmarked themselves as a family to watch.

After being intimidated when the competition began, the sisters came full circle to be over the moon at their win.

Bec said: “We are so overwhelmed and honoured to be crowned the winners and take home the prize. This amount of money has never been possible for us to even imagine, so we look forward to investing it in our future with food.”

Nicole said: “To the Tartaglia family, we couldn’t have asked for better blokes to cook beside. And to everyone else, thank you for making this whole experience one to remember. We love our new extended family.”

What a rubbish photo. The judge on the right has his eyes closed?
