Family Food Fight

Endemol Shine’s production company Remarkable Television is developing the format for Channel 4’s daytime schedule, but the show is yet to be fully commissioned.

Saw the promo last night on 9Gem, I think it’s a good promo, I like it, feels MasterChef-ish with an MKR ‘couples/teams’ element, family friendly and feel good. Is it still being produced at the Showgrounds, also where MasterChef films and coincidently again the same producers (wonder how Ten would feel about that).

Probably not much.

Looks like a totally different set, so no different to how multiple shows are shot at the same studios.

I think one of the factors for its renewal may have been demographic potential, looking at how powerful MasterChef and MKR still are in that area, as well as their longevity. They tried Hot Plate but ran into legal issues. And a short form cooking reality does on the surface seem like a good Q4 fit, Good Doctor well down in the ratings this time and no knowing how All Together Now will go.

FFF is shot in the animal shed used for Melbourne Show. Masterchef has its permanent shed setup.

That promo looked exactly like an MKR promo to me except it’s all shot in the studio like Masterchef. It’s a shame they couldn’t keep their unique family set up from last season where each team had 4 players and therefore some of them were shocking cooks. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

This show didn’t even do that well. I am predicting it will completely bomb this year.

Who knows. Nine might change it a bit and it might end up being a new MAFS.

Agreed, Family Food Fight didn’t even get over 700k metro viewers for the launch and even dipped below 500k in the overnight figures for an episode! :open_mouth:

I know this line has been trotted out before, but still the only way I’d watch this show is if it remained true to the title by having the families throw their dishes at each other. Now that’s ratings winning television! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Family Food Fight returns to the Nine Network in 2018

Following its popular 2017 debut, the series has an all-new look and has been shaken up to set the scene for some seriously good home cooking by some very colourful characters. Sparks will fly, tastebuds will tingle, and magic will happen in the Family Food Fight kitchens.

In 2018, eight food-loving families of two will battle it out for the spoils, which again include not only ultimate bragging rights as Australia’s Number One Food Family but $100,000 in prizemoney.

Our eight families from across the country will go head-to-head in the kitchen with challenges designed to build on their skills to deliver deliciousness. Their efforts will be tasted and critiqued by acclaimed chef and restaurateur Matt Moran as Family Food Fight’s lead judge.

Assisting Matt will be high-energy pastry chef Anna Polyviou, who will share even more of her incredible desserts with the families, and internationally renowned food writer and critic Tom Parker Bowles, whose formidable food knowledge will wow the home cooks.

Matt, Anna and Tom will again be watching on from their commentary position, all-seeing and all-knowing as they watch the blow-by-blow action at the stoves and benchtops while the cooks bring their dishes to life, or fight to come back from the brink.

In Season Two the stakes are even higher and only the best cooking will be rewarded. Changes to the 2018 competition have put the pressure on the families from the get go, as all families will automatically start the week in the elimination challenge. The only way to avoid it is to be number one on the brand-new Leader Board at the end of the week.

Put simply, the best cooking will be rewarded with the clearest path to the fi . The new Game Changers will dial up the competitiveness and boost each winner’s chances of swift passage through the competition if used strategically – and will defi ely ensure no love is lost between the teams.

With family pairs comprised of siblings, mothers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives and even brothers-in-law, it’s the no-holds-barred approach to cooking under pressure with your family that is likely to see tempers fl e with so much on the line.

Family heritage will be on show through the unique fl ours and the calibre of cooking will be high, delighting the judges with Afghan specialities, hand-rolled Italian pasta, traditional Lebanese dishes with a modern twist, Maori and Islander fl ours, and delicious vegan dish- es inspired by global travels.

With quality home cooking at its heart to capture the essence of what brings families together, Family Food Fight will see our cooks going above and beyond to claim the coveted top spot. Case in point will be the weekly elimination challenges set by pastry whiz Anna Polyviou, whose wickedly wonderful recipes will push the families way outside their comfort zones, so that only the strongest survive.

No two days in the Family Food Fight kitchen are the same: from catering for a celebrity dinner to trawling for their own fresh seafood, cooking in strangers’ homes and dreaming up delicious snacks for a blockbuster night out at the movies, there won’t be a dull moment.

I think this’ll work if it can sustain a core following, it wasn’t really a flop last year by today’s standards?

It looks completely like MKR now.

So it probably means it will rate as well if not better :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

But audiences hate a copy cat so just as likely to fail. If they stuck to the old format it could have grown.

apparently it was very hard to cast as a family format.
