Eurovision Song Contest

But they pick such hopeless singers and songs to enter. I think last year’s effort from Britain was good but every other year is terrible. This year’s contestant was often out of tune and hit a lot of bung notes.

Yeah the UK were so boring this year they deserved to rank so low. Plus they rarely put anyone good up for a country that have so many huge pop stars they really could. You can tell the countries that really do put a big effort in Eurovision, the UK is not one of them. I don’t think the competition is even that popular over there.

Also agree it was stupid for SBS to air the final so late. I don’t get the logic. So few people would be watch at 12.30am on a Sunday. It’s like the only options to watch it were to get up really or stay up really late. There were also so many commercial breaks in the primetime performance. There were very few in the morning.

It’s still a top rating show in the UK. 7 million viewers for the whole telecast with 8 million peak. Top show of the night and not bad for a Saturday night.

Especially when the UK finished dead last.

Interesting. I just remember a previous year reading it was beaten by Britain’s Got Talent or one of the other talent shows. Funny thing is I was just talking to a girl from work from the UK and she was saying she’s never really watched it because growing up all she would ever hear was how the other European countries never really rated the UK in the competition.

I agree with your comments. I thought Sergei was great again. What a voice.

Norway no 1 in the public vote was surprising to me.

I’m encouraged by the public vote for Kate, but surprised the jury vote wasn’t higher.

I was very surprised Czech did as well as that…

Italy seems to be getting favourable points over the last couple of years with some pretty ordinary songs/acts…

Actually the UK has the 3rd highest ratings for Eurovision out of all the countries, with the final rating around 7m each year despite them doing so badly every year.

I rated it highly.

Me too. Most of my votes went to them in the final.

Interested in an ACMA survey on Eurovision viewing?

ACMA should have had “Watched clips on social media” as an option.

Why would ACMA care about that? They haven’t got bigger fish to fry?

You would think so.

The other 26 performers in the contest didn’t have that problem. Nor the other guest performers on the night.

She has uploaded the video to YouTube but edited the sound.

Madonna has really and truly lost the plot. Even her lame message about the power of music to change things has been heard a million times before. Yet she trots that out like it has been her original thought. She was always a very ordinary vocalist but it appears to be getting worse. Every single one of those Eurovision finalists were better singers than her.

I have to ask myself why would she bother at her age and with her wealth? Go and do something that is actually useful rather than clog up a half time act on Eurovision.

Except maybe that UK one who came last. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

She was talking to the contestants like she was on the X Factor or something, saying they should be proud of themselves for making it this far. I don’t even think she knew where she was. She is clueless and irrelevant these days. I don’t know why they bothered having her on there.
