The song is very good and definitely a grower after a few listens. The comments online seem to be overwhelmingly positive.
Australia has also jumped up the betting odds already sitting at #4.

I really like it. Very Eurovision, especially the dramatic key change at the end. If they get the staging right itāll do really well IMO. Australia jumped from 11th to 4th in the betting odds overnight, which is always a good indicator. I just canāt see it not doing well.
Iām not particularly a fan of Delta, something I joked about when she performed at the Melbourne Cup (āIād rather get delta than watch Deltaā) but from a strategic standpoint, she is exactly the kind of act Australia should be sending. Her Neighbours background gives her genuine recognition in the UK, and in a competition like Eurovision, that kind of builtāin profile matters.
The criticism that this is a āsafeā choice or that it sidelines younger artists misses the point entirely. Australia is participating on a rolling invitation that can be withdrawn at any time, so credibility and consistency are nonānegotiable. After several recent entries that were frankly underwhelming and failed to make an impact, sending a proven, polished performer isnāt conservativeāitās responsible.
Agree ![]()
In fact thatās what UK keeps getting wrong. They need to send more proven and polished performers. The last time they won was with Katrina And The Waves, and almost won with Sam Rider. Those should be the type of acts they put forward.
Directed by Melbourne-born, London-based filmmaker Liam Pethick (known for his work with Ed Sheeran) and produced by acclaimed creative Brian Purnell, whose collaborators include Celine Dion, Troye Sivan, Snoop Dogg and Tame Impala, the visually arresting music video for Eclipse reflects the world-class pedigree of Mushroom Creative House.
Set across vast sand dunes in Newcastle, NSW, Delta performs at the centre of a circle of mirrored plinths that fragment and multiply her image, evolving from elusive and undefined to powerful and self-assured as day shifts into night and ultimately collides in a kinetic eclipse of light and shadow. The result is a bold, cinematic piece that matches the scale of the music with striking visuals, raw ambition and elite creative firepower.
Decent entry, and it will certainly qualify.
After a good build, I find the chorus a bit underwhelming though.

An Iconic Career
Signing her first record deal at just 15, Delta exploded onto the global stage with her debut album Innocent Eyes ā a 23-times Platinum phenomenon and one of the highest-selling albums in Australian history. The album produced five #1 singles and remained at #1 for a record-breaking seven and a half months ā making Delta a household name, with one in every four homes in Australia owning a Delta Goodrem album.
Across her career, Delta has sold more than nine million albums worldwide, achieved five #1 albums and nine #1 singles, and earned 12 ARIA Awards. Call it perfect timing ā we call it divine. The planets have aligned for Delta to Eclipse with a performance thatās out of this world.
In a galaxy of stars, Australia ā s bringing the Eclipse.
**SBS Head of Entertainment Emily Griggs said: ā**After years of speculation, the moment has arrived. Everything has aligned for Delta to represent Australia at Eurovision, and thereās no better time than 2026 in the song contestās 70th year, back where Australiaās participation began in 2015. To mark this milestone, we wanted to send one of Australiaās most iconic artists to the worldās most iconic stage. Her powerful voice is balanced by restraint and an openness that draws people in, creating performances that feel both intimate and expansive. Europe, get ready. Australia is lighting up the stage.ā
**Australiaās Creative Director for Vienna, Paul Clarke said: ā**Delta Goodrem is a once in a generation artist. Her elegant songwriting and unmatched vocal ability make her the perfect choice to represent Australia and eclipse the competition at the 70th anniversary of Eurovision in Vienna. Her song is a bold step towards the next stage of her worldwide career, and we are excited to bring her vision to life on the stage in May.ā
Eclipse is released today on ATLED Records and available here
Austriaās JJ won the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland, with his song Wasted Love. This year sees Australia go back to where it all began in 2015 with Guy Sebastian and his song Tonight Again, marking 10 years in the song contest last year with Go-Jo and his song Milkshake Man.
The Eurovision Song Contest is held from Tuesday 12 May ā Saturday 16 May 2026 in Vienna, Austria with SBSā s exclusive broadcast LIVE and in prime time from Wednesday 13 May ā Sunday 17 May on SBS and SBS On Demand. Further details of SBSās broadcast will follow soon.
A year ago, while touring the UK, a British newspaper threw an unexpected question at Australian singer Delta Goodrem. Asked whether she would consider competing in the Eurovision Song Contest, she replied: āOf course I would do Eurovision, I love it!ā
A year later, Goodrem confirms that off-the-cuff remark sparked a series of discussions that have culminated in a deal which will propel the multi-ARIA award-winning singer-songwriter on that very journey.
āThatās 70 years of music being a part of peopleās lives and hearts, every single year,ā Goodrem says. āThe two greatest influences in my life, my dear mentor Olivia Newton-John, and Celine Dion [whose hit Eyes on Me was co-written by Goodrem], have both been a part of this stage. So itās a really special stage, and one Iām honoured to be on.ā
Note: based on the draw taken place on January 12, Delta will perform Eclipse in the second half of the second semi final on May 14 (May 15 in Australia).
Itās a solid and safe song, Iād expect it to at least qualify.
If the staging and vocals can do something big with the key change, it could stand out as a top performance.
Iād personally say itās a bit better than solid and safe. But yes that key change is a good one, and if they get the staging right it could really stand out. I donāt think we need to worry about vocals with Delta. Sheāll also kill it with that piano solo.
Having said that, gee the Top 4 in the betting are really, really strong entries. I can easily see why Finland is the favourite, itās going to be really hard to beat. The Danish entry is fantastic as well. The Greek song isnāt my cup of tea but I can see why itās popular too. Itās a tough field for Delta thatās for sure.
i susopect at times that the UK on purposely throws the comp so they wonāt bear the expense of hosting it
Iām pretty sure thatās what Ireland have been doing, but Iām not sure about the UK. Their chances are slim on winning even with a great song, but perhaps the Sam Ryder near miss gave them a scare LOL
Delta did a live chat with good friend Richard Wilkins on Today this morning.

After a ride to the studio in Tim's Taxi, Delta Goodrem talks with us about representing Australia in the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. #9Today | WATCH LIVE 5.30am
Iād say this is our best attempt in years, we are safely back in the final and I would say back in the top 10. Her vocal capability has so much potential to be a stellar moment much like Dami had.
I like Deltra. Donāt mind the song but it still wonāt go anywhere. The jury will give it top marks (provided it gets to the Final) but as usual public vote will be low. And IMO, Dami was robbed by this political voting shit.

Jury voting is back for the Semis, so itāll make the final. Iām also not as pessimistic about the public vote in the final. I think the main obstacle will be the strong competition this year, the Finnish song deserves its hot favourite status, and the Denmark song is a banger also. Itāll be a tough competition this year. But I still think Australia will go very well with this.
Norway for the win. ![]()
Glad someone is enjoying it, it is bottom 3 with the community at the moment and is at risk of not making the final imo.

Which community would that be?
Itās 4th in the betting odds lol
Sorry if youāre talking about Norway - that one is a shocker
