Thanks! I just love these flyover videos of new/proposed interchanges/bypasses etc!

So they had traffic chaos this morning because they stuffed up the signage. So people think there is a toll to the City when there is not. It only applies to the link to Port Botany, M8 and Airport.

The signage is fine and consistent with other similar signage, it’s also been made clear on multiple occasions that the link to and from the city from the ANZAC Bridge is toll free - sorry, but you can’t help stupid

The grey routes are a bit rough but at least they show the interchange pattern.

I think the difference might be that usually there would be a dividing line separating City which would be a free trip, from the section that has Toll and the other locations. Or City would be a total separate sign.

NSW Premier Chris Minns said that sign would be changed overnight.

This is what other states do, I find it bewildering that NSW (which in general has better wayfinding for public transport etc.) hasn’t kept up

The sign clearly indicates that Victoria Road is not a toll road anyone can see that.

Yes, that’s clear.

But what’s not clear is that the Tunnel to the Anzac Bridge and City is not a toll road but the link beyond that to Port Botany is a Toll Road.

Transport management said this was because many motorists didn’t realise the tunnel between the Iron Cove Bridge and the Anzac Bridge was toll-free, meaning many stayed on Victoria Road when they could bypass the traffic by using the Iron Cove Link.

The blue/yellow toll road signage in Melbourne I think works quite well for making them very distinct, and clear what routes are tolled.

I suppose maybe just the bulk of toll roads in NSW makes that too big of a change?

Yes absolutely. I would assume from that sign there was a toll to the City as well as Port Botany.

Doesn’t NSW use the Blue and Yellow signs to indicate toll roads like Queensland and Victoria?
It’s not perfect and there instances around Brisbane which indicate you’re on a toll road AFTER the toll point has passed, but still they do stick out.

Same in Brisbane.

The blue signs are used for City Centre, Shopping Centre, Commercial Centre signs. They usually sit alongside the green signs.

No - they’ve used the yellow “TOLL” shield for some time now (it also used to indicate whether the toll road accepted certain tags as well, back before they were ubiquitous and interchangeable)

I’m led to believe that the yellow-on-blue that Victoria (and maybe Brisbane?) uses isn’t in the standard, so TfNSW won’t adopt it

Here in Tasmania, yellow-on-blue signs are for commercial tourist destinations.

We have those blue and white signs for points of interest too in Queensland, but blue and YELLOW ones are toll roads. Same in Victoria.
