Disney+

I didn’t realise Disney+ is actually launching on my birthday, the more that they should send me a trial period offer

Yep, me too. Key selling point for me for streaming is to watch what I want, when I want. Drip feeding, for me… is just frustrating. It’s how FTA works… shame that it will be a Disney+ staple.

The Disney+ Australian website (left side below) is showing a reduced lineup of original programs in comparison to the US website, with the Australian website not showing The World According to Jeff Goldblum, Star Wars The Clone Wars, and What If …?

However Hulu is u.s only though
so Bob Iger has 2 options for family guy and american dad

(1) launch hulu globaly

(2) Put Family Guy and American Dad on Disney+ for regions outsde of the u.s like canada, u.k and Australia

Family Guy and American Dad will be, at least for now remaining with Foxtel and 7Mate.

They don’t have streaming rights though.
Disney should just partner with Stan for content that isn’t Disney+ suitable.

I would point out that Foxtel Now is a streaming service. Foxtel has also signalled it’s intention to launch a standalone “Kayo” style service focussed on entertainment in the new year.

7 does stream Family Guy live with ads?

No Simpsons or Bob’s Burgers on Disney+?

But is Foxtel Now more BVOD than SVOD? Are the rights licensed differently?

7Plus had streaming rights to one of Family Guy, American Dad or Futurama didn’t they? I swear I saw it featured on the app this year. But not The Simpsons.

If this actually translates into a reduced library, why?! In a world connected by the internet and streaming services becoming the dominant form of home media, why would their library be different in different countries?

It makes sense for third-party streamers like Netflix and Stan who have to purchase the rights to the content, or for Disney content already bound by terrestrial broadcast deals, but for for Disney+ exclusives that aren’t bound by such deals, there should be no reason for regional differences in libraries.

It would depend on what agreements they have with other providers

Disney have posted a thread on Twitter of the movies and television series that will be available in the US.

Interestingly they have slapped a Disney logo on some 20th Century Fox productions.

Disney have posted a video on YouTube that’s 3+ hours long and shows everything that will be on Disney+ in the U.S., from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to The Mandalorian.

Since all the first 30 seasons of The Simpsons are going to be on Disney+ (with Season 31 on a later date), I guarantee the first 20 will be the “cropped-to-widescreen” versions. Of course they were on Simpsons World for a few months before switching to the original full-frame versions. I’m sure this’ll make @Sifon turn off Disney+ and prefer to watch his DVDs!
