Big Sky was also delayed. I think the simpsons and family guy as well. It’s stupid and unnecessary.
I’m sure we could go forever ,Station 19 is another. It just makes no sense.
Don’t forget M.O.D.O.K!
Wonder how Disney decides what launches day-and-date and what comes to Australia later. Is it really a local staffing matter (gotta insert those Star logos) or just a local marketing delay for a new show like How I Met Your Father.
New episodes of Futurama will stream on Hulu in the US next year, and is expected to be available on Disney+ in Australia afterwards.
They certainly drag the chain, It’s almost like Disney is trying to hold onto the good old broadcast days where it could dictate when, where and how often the audience should watch its content. The Netflix model has set expectations of dropping everything at once, sadly Disney does not.
Re: Futurama they will probably do one episode a week on Star.
More Star Wars
Starting to look like they are going to ruin a good thing by producing all these spin-offs.
Not a huge shock with being good IP they own. Disney at least doing some good with their work, apparently King of the Hill is coming back too.
I am perfectly fine with weekly drops if that is the model a streamer or broadcaster decide suits the show best what I am not ok with is a show launching on Hulu and waiting 2+ months to start the series locally - I can’t see any logical reason as to why that would be the case when it is a program they own.
i would guess it’s around local marketing and wanting to focus on one show (Boba Fett) then do another blitz for HIMYF at a later point maybe?
Exactly, different markets will manage their content differently, noting that not all markets have the same content. If it wasn’t this, people would complain over having many months of no premium content across the year. They are no doubt spreading their content to maximise their membership base. Look at all the posts about people getting in and out of their memberships based on the content available at the time. No loyalty.
Disney+ doesn’t even have the original King of the Hill yet, the only 20th Century Fox animated sitcom (apart from The Great North) not currently available on the platform.
Anyone watching Pam and Tommy on Disney +?
We don’t live in an age anymore though where networks/platforms can delay airing programs until whenever they please without consequences. If Network/Platform B decides to air Network/Platform A’s program not on the same day Network/Platform A does, people who want to watch the program will (rightly or wrongly) find other ways to do so.
I agree - but they are probably happy enough to take the gamble that people won’t give up the service because they can’t access HIMYF (or insert show here) day and date.
Guessing their research tells them that certain shows do need to be up ASAP (Star Wars spin-offs, Pam and Tommy) because they’ll move the subscription needle and others don’t.
If they can leverage a marketing push for HIMYF down the track it might work out in their favour.
Or The Wonder Years.
