Yeah 7 main Channel here in Toowoomba has been HD only for a few years and all channels H.264 for a couple of months and haven’t heard of anyone complaining

I’ve noticed this afternoon Seven Newcastle has swapped all channels to MPEG 4 & Ch. 6 is now HD, no more SD main channel on Seven Newcastle or Ten Newcastle now.
7two, 7mate, 7bravo are all also HD only, 7 flix, TVSN & Racing, is still SD, but MPEG 4.
That means if you live on the Central Coast you’d be better off watching 7 Regional (Newcastle) over 7 Metro (Sydney).

Newcastle doesn’t have 7 on ch. 61, that no longer exists, there’s no 7 main channel in SD in Newcastle anymore, same with Ten Newcastle, HD only on 5 & 50.

May as well flick 7Two and 7Flix to HD in metro area’s as well at this point - most people now have MPGE4 technology.

Almost 2025 and still using MPEG2 is unreal.
I could see the argument for reverting 7Flix back to MPEG2 in 2016, but it’s been 9 years…

That naming convention looks similar to what has been in use in Queensland now with 3 LCN’s (6, 60,61) pointing to the one stream.

I wonder why Newcastle differs slightly then, there’s no Ch.61 here HD or SD.
Newcastle channel numbering is 6, 60, 62, 64, 65, 66, 67 & 68.

Doubt it, maybe as Newcastle doesn’t have any SD main channel for 10, 7 didn’t want to put one either & seem behind the times, they probably don’t care that 9, ABC & SBS still have an SD main channel here, but didn’t want to be seen to be behind 10/WIN?

If receivers could cope with it, having 7flix be HD in prime time, while Racing was HD during the daytime, would be the best balance for the content.
There is no SD Ch7 main channel in Canberra from today either. HD h.264 main channel only now as it should be. Now will all the other networks please follow ASAP!
