Maybe it is to fit in TVSN that starts next month.
Hasn’t TVSN already been running on the 7QLD markets for the past month at least?
They already have the test loop running, and it looks like arse like it always has on FTA
At a low bit rate though for the test loop.
I’ll be surprised if the actual program is any better, bit rate and quality wise!
Yes, but I’m not sure if all sites have switched yet as they’ve being doing them one at a time. My location switched around the end of May.
It involved upgrading the 3 x 7 Regional WA feeds and the 7mate North-West feed to HD on VAST earlier in the year. They didn’t rename or renumber them though.
Then the terrestrial sites began switching. The only significant changes are on the Seven mux with 7HD launching and 7mateHD moving to 64. The rest of the lineup is the same as before, including Channel 9 SD on LCN 8 which is just pointless now.
I have to say, the picture quality is absolutely perfect now. The issues with 7mate, 9HD and 9Life breaking up under high load have been resolved. But I am disappointed that WIN didn’t give 9Gem or 9Go! a HD upgrade. Are they’re working on it?
Further to the above
Noted that the resolution has changed from 1440x1080i now to 1920x1080i
Don’t know if it’s just me but my 9HD isn’t as crisp as it used to be in Melbourne.
Since the start of 9Go! HD?
Seems to be.
Nine need to ditch the SD simulcasts of 9Go and 9Gem to free up bandwidth. The 9HD picture quality has been slowly getting worse with each additional multichannel stream added. 9HD through WIN is noticeably better.
I agree.
Should be
90 - channel 9
91 - Gem
92 - Go
93 - Life
94 - Rush
A challenge for TV reception - a rotating house. You can see what looks like an omnidirectional caravan-type antenna installed in the centre of the roof.
I bet they only watch repeats there anyway, matches the scenery being on repeat!
Has MDV ceased broadcasting yet?
No, midnight tonight (approx 3 hrs 15 mins from now as I type!)
If anyone’s interested there’s a dedicated topic with discussion of Ten Mildura here.
I’ve been monitoring the bit rates before and after the change to TVSN. Tomorrow, I’ll post tables, but the most significant change is that WIN has gained an extra Mb/s by having a static slide for TVSN. That currently seems to be going to improve mostly 9GemHD plus 9HD.
With the Mildura 10 switch off, and the apparent decline in free to air, i wonder if we will ever see DVB-T2 now.
I was going to post this yesterday, but now I sort of know the answer due to the coding issue with Sunday’s ratings.
Did anyone else find that as well as recording the new episode of Travel Guides on Sunday, their PVR recorded a whole bunch of repeats. Most seemed to be on 9Go!HD. I even had one recording from 9GoHD! Gold Coast show up. I think there were three recorded on Sunday.
