Digital TV Technical Discussion

back to where it began?

Maybe it’s my OCD kicking in but with the exception of 10Peach, the other multi-channels names on 10 are uppercase. Would be nice to have consistency…

Did anyone else notice this too?

I’m not sure why 10 hasn’t considered a similar configuration to what NPC implemented for Darwin;

1 - 10 SD
10 - 10 HD
11 - 10 SD
12 - Bold
13 - Peach

Put Shake on Channel 14?

It’s 2020, the main channel number should be HD.

Last night I rescanned my 2009 Panasonic Viera TV and had 10 HD on 1 and 15, TVSN on 16, Spree on 17, but there was no sign of 10 Shake on 13. Same thing with my Panasonic Blu-ray recorder today. Should I do a manual rescan?

I did a scan on my Panasonic too. Same result as you but 10 Shake appeared on 350. Dunno what’s happened. I’ll try it again later

I checked the EPG on my Panasonic TV just then, and miraculously 10 Shake appeared on LCN 13! It wasn’t there more than two hours ago!

I just did a rescan again and 10 Shake appeared on channel 1002.

The use of an LCN of 0 or, LCNs greater than 999, are not permitted under
Operational Practice 41 by FreeTV Australia.

Not relevant, as it isn’t 10 doing this, it’s the equipment.

Strict adherence to OP41 has been pretty poor, both from manufacturers and broadcasters alike (in fact it had to be amended to allow the WIN/SCA affiliation swap

It also says that the 350-399 range is allocated for the reciever to allocate to stations that without LCNs or duplicates - but that appears to be fairly loosely implemented

why would equipment go past LCN 999 then?

Probably because it does overseas, and they’re only going to write as much Australian-specific code as they have to.

still showing “15” on its watermark on Channel 17 :stuck_out_tongue:

I am starting to suspect that the watermark is ‘burnt’ into the recording meaning a WIN style blob coverup would otherwise be required?

Surely no one at 10 has missed this oversight?

there’s so few viewers I doubt anyone cares

At least two viewers have watched it in the last few days!

Are there any other requirements for networks on announcing the creation of new channel and/or reallocation of LCNs?

ie: 10 Shake (LCN 13) won’t officially start until Sunday 27 September, but will be on endless repeating loop until then?

I did a rescan last night and I only got 10 shake on channel 13. I did have it appear on any extra channels.
