I like how Capitol have included the DAB in all their logos on this Facebook image. I wish all their regular logos would look like this (because the logos in their website currently don’t mention DAB).
As for their digital radio formats, whatever happened to DAB offering a point of difference? Eg NovaNation, Barry, etc. It’s a waste to see DAB used for something we’d all expect to hear on regular FM or AM.
The DAB+ ratings have been released for Canberra for the first time, with figures taken from GfK’s Survey 1 ratings for that market.
Of the commercial DAB+ stations, Coles Radio is #1, followed by My Canberra (this was before the format change), KIX Country & The Edge. Club Lime Radio & Hit Buddha tied for 5th, whilst Snow Digital came 6th.
If they were actually doing well, they’d include the stations on the shares list like the Hobart ratings do.
Of course the most likely fudge here is that the headline figure is “DAB+ stations attract 54,000 listeners” while they only rank the Commercial stations - Double J won the cume figures on Hobart DAB (in Survey 1 last year), wouldn’t be shocked if the ABC/SBS stations are a big chunk of that.
I don’t think it’s Coles Radio in store listening - Coles Radio is a good station, low on ads and a unique music mix.
They really should be doing a full on Triple M Canberra with the metro rock format, not Hit Buddha; and a Pure Gold station before carrying The Edge. I assume that’s partially ARN/SCA not wanting to step on eachother format wise - but it leaves Canberra still lacking core formats in the market.
