Digital Radio

Yes my mode button is flakey too! Mode does power off sometimes on my Bush Radio. Very annoying. Quite common for these types of radios over time. Not sure if it “dust” getting inside.

Report out on radioinfo.co.uk says 95% of new cars in the UK in the Dec quarter came with DAB. Up from 5% ten years ago.

I have one of these Blaupunkt digital radios

It’s actually not a bad radio, except the Info button doesn’t work properly… the LCD screen is hard to read in daylight, but being able to view slideshow images is good.

So someone who enjoys collecting radios like I do. I have been collecting them since I bought my first Decca radio whilst living as a teenager in Northern Ireland. I have approx. 11 DAB+ radios at present of various brands including PURE, Sangean, Sony, Yamaha, Blaupunkt and Roberts. I enjoy collecting them and listening to them but I have no idea what is under the case!

“Ooh how did I miss that!”

I haven’t quite got my pics ready. Spent too much time submitting damage claims for The BIG Hailstorm. Insurance companies make it so hard to claim. Finally had to swap browsers to try to get the Coles Insurance site to work.

I won’t keep you in suspenders any longer.

The front speaker grill is removable.
Tools required:
Plastic spudger
Long, small Philips head scewdriver
Patience and care if you don’t want ruin the front.

I suggest that you start at the bottom.

Behind the grill are two screws that hold the back to the front.

Simple really. Keep the bits of masking tape for when you refit the grill. Otherwise it will probably fall off or vibrate. Any appliance that uses masking tape to hold it together is a no no for me!

Cheers!

I buy them because I’m addicted. I give most of them away to family or friends who don’t know about DAB+ or Internet Radio. They get a great deal of pleasure from listening to the Internet stations in particular. I pick out ones for them that haven’t been monetised (as yet). I have an aversion to all ads and spend quite a bit of my time making sure my electronics are ad free.

How do you know we wear them!

Was that today’s Canberra hail storm?
Good luck with the claim process.

Ah-ha. Looks like I’ll have to hit eBay for a much needed Spudger kit. Don’t think an old credit card will do the job. Thanks very much for the advice
Years ago all you needed was a phillips-head or flat-bladed screwdriver to open a electronic device. Now its all manner of drivers & spudgers required - it’s a bl__dy tool manufacturers conspiracy! Lol.

Feel free to mention your favourites.
I like ‘Astronomy Cast’

I mainly use my Bush BR320 for listening to DAB+, but it also gets a smaller regular workout in Internet & Bluetooth modes. And the USB socket gets regular use to recharge the smartphone.

Doesn’t seam likely dust or wear would be the issue with the mode button (unless a different switch used internally). My power, preset & sleep buttons get more of a workout than the mode button…

An old credit card might do the trick, but probably not strong enough to lever the grill off the Bush. On the Blaupunkt it’s just about to fall off I suspect.

Thanks. Sounds like I might need a strong metal spudger.

Wonder if they’ll get rid of that NTS News Talk Sport waste of space?

If they do, and they have no other stations planned, they should be able to run the new music station at at least 128kbps on the east coast, and 64kbps in Perth. If they keep 6PR at 48 though, they could make the music station 96kbps.

Best to Relocate Whatever Sporting Contracts over to NTS Anyway.

What contracts do NTS have anyway?

Same as Nine Radio does.

So News Talk Sport is just a 9Radio station?

Think it’s just “highlights” of whatever crap is on the other stations. I checked briefly this morning to see if it even still existed and Basil was going on about some crap from his morning show.

PICS FROM INSIDE THE BLAUPUNKT BCR9 DABi

Sorry for the delay in posting these. So many claims to make on house and cars after golf ball size hail rained down. I only have a Galaxy S7 so picture quality isn’t the best. Mind you, I could have a top of the range Nikon and they still wouldn’t be much good.

Unusual looking speaker but turns out nice sound. Holding it in place is hot melt glue, screws with an oversize washer and some red paint.

How good is hot melt glue to hold the ribbon cable in place to the front panel knobs and display?

The main board is on the bottom, the Frontier Silicon daughter board is on top held in place by stand offs and is covered in metal shielding. To the right is a large black IC which is a Superchip, an audio processor I believe.

Here you can see the audio port at the back, covered by a piece of black cloth. Red and black speaker cable. The metal can might be a FM tuner or does the Frontier Silicon chip do all the tuning?

A closer view of the ribbon cable connection to the main board.
