Where did you get that Information?
It was mentioned earlier in this thread about nearly 3 weeks ago.
Triple M Hard And Heavy Digital
They’ve also filed for trademark of ‘Triple M Romeo’ at the same time as “Triple M Hard N Heavy”
Any ideas??
Presumably Romeo would be an extension of their Rock Song Dedications night show.
Also interesting to see a filing from 2016 for “THE ALTERNATIVE COMMENTARY COLLECTIVE OF AUSTRALIA” - obviously based on the iHeartRadio NZ show of the same name.
“Hard N Heavy” sounds like a hard rock station, something that I think @TheStyles83 would appreciate no end!
My Canberra is still dead on digital radio, and also no stream is available on Radioapp, TuneIn app, and the Digital Radio Plus website.
How many more stations are we waiting for to go digital? just Edge and Radio Tab?
None. Everyone who should be on is now on. Extra stations are up to the management of each station.
I’ve timed exactly 10 seconds between Ultra’s DAB encoder input and the decoded audio on 2 radios I’ve tested… Strange, DAB delay is usually only about 4 seconds?
Elf Radio is back for another year in Sydney
In Sydney, it’s more like 6-8 seconds I think, though it will vary a little bit between digital radios as they have different processing algorithms.
Now I wonder how long it’ll be until Christmas Hope…oh wait, it returned back in May!
It will be great to hear heavy rock station in glorious 32k stereo. I was listening to smooth relax today, Something by The Beatles. I feel so spoilt when I hear the same song on FM stereo. I think Id rather hear it on a good AM radio in glorious mono than on dab at that bit rate.
I heard it last night whilst tuning & thought: WTF - so early!
You’re right Laoma. Gave Smooth Relax a listen here too. And after five minutes I couldn’t take it any longer! The screeching digital artifacts (on three different radios), awful shrill highs etc were killing my ears. All due to the low bitrate and I suspect something else that’s wrong with the encoding. Plus the poor audio processing.
Are we going to end up with a bunch of unlistenable stations running low bit rates. Just like digital TV where they keep squashing more channels on to the multiplexes and damn the quality. More is not better!
Yes, I really hope DAB operators can find a way to provide their services at a higher bit rate - 128 kbps min or preferably 256… The obvious solution is streaming, but I think all operators should agree on a single uniform platform for it eg. RadioApp. Having it built into standalone station apps only is not as user friendly.
None of the apps work well enough for me to stream in the car at least.
I’ve never had a problem at all with Radioapp, iHeart or other streaming apps in cars
me neither… as a matter of fac ti pay for tune in premium now so i can listen to the baseball in the car. not had too may issues short of no reception
