SEN Sydney is back on DAB+ in Melbourne (now called SEN SYD).
Wonder why they do this - same with SEN FAN - not just calling it SEN Sydney and SEN Fanatic.
Still think Fanatic is underutilised, simulcasting 1116 a lot of the time when it should be getting stuff from SENQ/SA/WA.
It wasn’t even a business format as such. Nothing like say Bloomberg Radio. No stock market analysis etc.
Just a bunch of boring talking heads “interviewing” mostly small to mid sized business people about things that few people would find of any interest.
No wonder no one listened!
Noticed it today on DAB in Brisbane
The Australian has been reporting in the past two Mondays on Disrupt Radio. There has been no new content produced in recent months, with repeats of past shows being played. The paper also reports Disrupt is struggling to pay its presenters which include Libby Gorr.
With most media start ups they went to big to fast, over spent, and now are in trouble.
Triple M Almost Acoustic has been swapped out for Triple M 70s (itself a rebadged ‘70s Hits’).
I feel like this might have more appeal then Acoustic music
I agree. Acoustic is ok in small doses, but gets on my nerves after a short while.
That’s big. Following on from the recent talk in the Triple M thread, now the SCA/ARN deal is dead, maybe this is the future of Triple M. Skew older, similar to the Pure Gold network?
So long as they focus on music, it’s only a good thing.
It’ll still be on the Listnr app so they have to broadcast it on DAB+ somewhere for the sake of royalties I guess?
I agree about SEN Fantatic being underutilised.
On another forum I suggested it should be called SEN World Sport.
On that channel you could have their current NFL and EPL coverage, plus throw in various Cricket matches from overseas (especially if India are involved).
Strike a deal with US West Coast teams (which are more time zone friendly) to carry their broadcasts, like the LA Lakers (NBA), San Diego Padres (Baseball) and Seattle Kraken (Ice Hockey).
Use the channel also for overflow coverage of domestic Soccer, Cricket or Basketball.
The non-live programming can be filled with a variety of overseas sports podcasts, and the occasional replay of an SEN interview with an overseas sports star.
Makes it stand out (at least in Melbourne) from the usual AFL centric coverage.
I liked Almost Accoustic, but agree it kinda only worked in small doses, I’d only listen to it for a few hours here and there. Not sure why on DAB it was never just “MMM Accoustic” - aside from not being randomly in all caps, it felt like it was more like those random Listnr stations rather than a Triple M.
Kinda surprised by the direction of older than younger - a Triple M 10s station is probably in the peak nostalgia zone now, given how much that decade makes up the Throwbacks on the FMs. Triple M Classic Rock is kinda wedged by having both a 70s and 80s station - maybe that will be that the 70s/80s stations are more “Greatest Hits” stations, while the Classic Rock is more pure rock, perhaps it can bring in more 60s to give it a unique spin?
Some changes on GC DAB Today - Seems Easy Hits is now missing plus something weird with the text on the Brisbane Easy Hits, not sure which station the DLS is coming from but its different to whats playing.
Enjoying MMM 70s. Definitely a good addition from a variety perspective. I found myself having to add a new car pre-set for the first time in ages! To keep within the 3x bands of 6 stations (I can make it 4 but didn’t want to), one had to go. After some deliberation it was goodbye River 94.9, which surprised me! It’s been a car present since the day it launched as 106.9 QFM. But when I thought about it is is the least listened to station now on my pre-sets so it had to go. I just don’t find any interesting songs being played on 94.9 and I swear the reception in Brisbane is the worst it’s been since the station launched in 1990 or so.
I noticed this today too - thought my radio wasn’t decoding the signal correctly for some odd reason

Makes it stand out (at least in Melbourne) from the usual AFL centric coverage.
That would require vision.
Craig has as much vision as bulldozer.
Hardly an inspiring leader or a large capacity to remarkably set up SEN for the future.
Your idea is excellent @CrowdedHouse, plenty of sport niches that would prove to be very popular in addition to AFL.
Disrupt Radio founder and CEO Benjamin Roberts told The Australian on the weekend that its DAB+ station, which was taken off in August, was not expected to return. He said Disrupt was likely to transition to a streaming-focused model, offering live streaming, on-demand content and podcasts.
While DAB+ contributes to our listenership, the numbers aren’t significant enough to justify ongoing investment at current levels. In Australia, DAB+ hasn’t gained the same traction as in the UK, where it enjoys mainstream popularity and a wide range of stations.
Sounds like the founder and its initial investors didn’t do much research into the Aussie radio market.
Also wonder why The Australian is slightly obsessed with Disrupt Radio? Three articles in three weeks about a station that no one cared for.
