Yeah it doesn’t sound great, but if that is all the spectrum that is available to them, then why not?
In fairness to them, its not unlistenable, the sound comes through clearly enough on a hifi system.

It’s most likely the first stage in their expansion to Brisbane. I really wouldn’t be surprised if they buy 4KQ, if Nova don’t want it.
Or another network doesn’t buy it to expand into the Brisbane market

The untimely death of Glenn Wheatley could also be a loss of an interested party.
2CH, in a far weaker position (late 2016) was turned around by his consortium.
Similarities with 2CH, however 4KQ’s product has always been stronger.

Like 3AW the bits have increase for 2GB. 120 K for 2-A
2UE remains at 72K. 2A
NTS is no longer on the list. In my view 2UE should go 3A again. I am not sure of the maths but they can maximise the bits.

120 kbit/s for 2GB is a bit of a waste imo. Talk programming sounds fine at around 64, certainly better than AM. Haven’t listened to Sydney DAB in a while so not sure how many stations are on there!

Not sure if it has been mentioned SEN Q on air in Brisbane. Mention is made of 1053 in Brisbane and 1620 Gold Coast.

Why so many Coles stations, are they different streams? and since when has iHeartCountry been on air?

The Coles streams are different. They are apparently broadcast so that the in-store streams pay less royalty on songs. The extra streams are 16 kbit/s.
iHeart Country is comparatively new.

yep it sounds like poo. stick your head in a bucket of mud, with a crappy $5 car speaker on the bottom of the bucket. thats how the coles stations sound

Coles TAS has been on Brisbane DAB for ages; it was there when I was last in Cane Toad City in 2017. At the time I couldn’t work it out but the royalty rate loophole was proffered as the answer.
