All of those stations plus 3MP were previously put into the multiplex via SEN’s allocation, the multiplex allocations have been cut up differently now to give ACE Radio (3MP) their own allocation of space, all of those plus 3MP are now inserted into the multiplex by ACE Radio on their own allocated space, this changed at 4pm last Friday afternoon.

Was listening to 3MP this afternoon and they told people listening on DAB+ to rescan their radio if they couldn’t hear the station any more.

Seems a bit pointless given they wouldn’t have been able to hear the suggestion. Unless they had switched back to 1377 AM to get their fix of Eeeeeasy Music.

BTW no probs on DAB+ in my car. Wouldn’t have known anything had changed. Still worked on the same preset.

There’s a “RESCAN 3MP” service on the multiplex, which is on the original 0x1109 service id as the previous 3MP was, while the new “easy music 3MP” is service ID 0x1110

For now the audio is the same between the two channels, though with a reduced bitrate on the SEN aligned version.

I didn’t notice any change with 3MP. There was only one 3MP, while there were two of Niche Radio 2, Radio Maria Ital and Rete Italia - the old channel which was no longer in service and and the new one which replaced it.

While 3MP was on my radio this morning, I checked again just now and 3MP disappeared and was replaced by easy music 3MP. However, there’s still only one 3MP, not two like with the others.

So presumably that’s:
SEN - 96CU - SEN 1116 24CU, SEN Fanatic 18CU, SENTrack 18CU, Vision Christian 36CU
3MP - 90CU (of 96) - RESCAN3MP 18CU, easy music 3MP 48CU, Rele Italia 8CU, Niche Radio 2 8CU, ACR ChineseRadio 8CU

Though the Rescan 3MP service is before Vision Christian in the CU order, which would put it in the SEN allocation, so I assume there’s going to be another small reshuffle once it vanishes

I also think ARN are under utilising their capacity right now.

Did they give up on the MMM Gold brand, or was DAB never renamed? TripleMGold 92.5 would fit

I haven’t heard of ACR Chinese Radio available on digital radio before. Is it the relay of one of two Chinese language stations from Sydney - 2AC or 2CR?

They never changed the DAB name.

Seems unrelated, I assume a relay of the Melbourne narrowcast on 1629AM. I don’t have a way of tuning to that AM station to confirm.

Yes, I noticed this too. That would be because the RESCAN3MP is the old 3MP coming from SEN, so would have to remain in their allocation. It would therefore appear that SEN are currently sending 114CU (including 18CU for 3MP’s Rescan) and 3MP are sending 72CU. I agree I would expect this to change and give 3MP more capacity once they remove the rescan station - maybe in a couple of weeks.

Yes, ARN have 24CU space on 9B. Probably the allocation for Elf radio that hasn’t been reallocated to other stations.

The huaxia website stream and 1629 AM are the same content. The DAB+ channel is something else, doesn’t seem to be a match of either 91.6 FM or 87.8 FM in Sydney.

91.6 Sydney is broadcasting Islamic Programming for the holy month of Ramadan.

Fair enough. I had multiple audio sources going at once, including checking the 2AC and 2CR websites, but nothing was a match with the DAB+ channel (unless there was some huge delay).

I think 2CR also runs a VHF NAS on the 151 MHz channels. I don’t think it has ever had a permanent on band licence- not even an LPON, though someone will probably prove me wrong.

Nice to know I can now get my ‘classic emo’ fix on Gold Coast DAB.

Thanks, now I understand that RESCAN 3MP was a separate channel. I found it under R, so indeed there are 2 3MP’s at the moment.

As @TV.Cynic has already confirmed, never renamed. I came here to say SCA long gave up on 92.5 Gold Coast. Renaming it was the final nail in the coffin. Reducing staffing resources was what really did it, not even half the station it was.

Thanks @Moe for your detailed snapshot.

Interesting that ABC and SBS choose to max out their allocation. At 3A, they’re running their full CU.

The stations at 40kbps are voice stations and to my ears, sound fine, no discernible artefacts or similar.

If 64kbps is considered FM quality, I’d reduce some/all of the non simulcast music stations down to that, very small audiences. Really depends on the input quality and codec used (very noticeable with the difference between the low bit rate stations below 32kbps)

I’d like to see ABC reduce ABC local to 40 or 48kbps and go to EEP-1A to improve reliability in the digital cliff area as there are many areas within the licence area (not applicable to national broadcasters) not covered by the infill TXs and rely on the main TX.

Okay, an update to what I posted yesterday about no apparent change to 3MP on DAB+.

Today, the same preset that yesterday said “3MP” now says “RESCAN 3MP” with a blurb in the text lines saying to rescan and find “easy music 3MP”. I’m sure many listeners won’t have a clue what that means and what to do.

Given that @anon71206228 said that the changes were initiated at 4pm Friday, it seems odd that it took Ace til today for that to be reflected in the original “3MP” stream. Maybe it took someone a while to work out what to do! I know when I complained to them about the excessive compression and horrible artefacts on Magic 1278 ages ago, they replied that the DAB+ technical stuff was out of their hands.

There were no changes to 3MP on Friday. The 2nd 3MP service didn’t appear until last night, which would explain why today is the day the messaging has changed. I’m guessing trying to reshuffle CU’s between SEN and ACE’s allocation with minimal disruption
