Different Bat-Time, Different Bat-Channel (Shows on more than one network)

Very interesting read. I knew about Towards 2000 become Beyond 2000 of course, but was not aware of the circumstances how it came about. I guess I assumed Seven might have poached them but it looks like they shopped it around after being axed by ABC.

Rostered On has jumped around three times and it hasn’t even been airing. :joy:

Season 1 was posted on Facebook and YouTube in 2017, then it was snapped up by Netflix in 2018, and now Seven have made Season 2 for 7mate.

In kids TV was Simon Townsend’s wonder world on ten then later on nine with a new host?

I was reading that Iain Finlay convinced Seven to invest in it on the basis the show would be a good fit for commercial television because of the potential to advertise tech products which, as you’ll remember, were starting to take off in the mid '80s. I wouldn’t have thought a science based show would be that popular but the ratings Towards 2000 was achieving prove otherwise and would’ve encouraged Seven to take it on.

For some reason I had believed Seven had just wanted a show showcasing reporters travelling the world because Nine had the success with 60 Minutes. I remember both Seven and Ten desperately trying to replicate that success at that time with a prestigious weekly current affairs show.

The show was originally intended for Nine. They had produced pilots but passed on it before it was shopped to Ten.

The OC aired 8.30 Thursdays on Nine. I know because I watched the few Nine airings but didn’t continue when it ended up on Ten although I did often watch Rove which followed at 9.30 Tuesdays.

Nine treated The Late Show very poorly in the last couple of years they had it. Partly because they were more interested airing Quizmania/The Mint from midnight. Often it only aired once or twice a week. I am not sure how Nine decided which episode to air, whether they consciously picked the bigger guests from the previous week or whether they just ended up weeks and weeks behind.

You are right in we didn’t get Letterman in WS and HD until the changeover to Ten (Jan 2007?). Ten picked up the CBS News deal because the new Nine baulked at the higher amount CBS we’re asking for.

Wonder World with Pascal Fox Was on Nine in the early 90s. Same format and theme.

Kids TV often moved around. Round the Twist, Ship to Shore, The Saddle Club are a few that come to mind.

Entertainment Tonight did not move to 10 until 2012:

It reappeared on Ten six weeks after Nine dropped it to replace The Circle:

Yep, Nine retained ET which may have been onsold from Ten along with 60 Minutes US.

Ten did air the weekly version of the show, Entertainment This Week, late on Sunday nights for many years so ET moving to Ten in 2012 was a homecoming of sorts. I had the biggest crush on Leeza Gibbons when I was a teen. She used to make regular appearances on Good Morning Australia for Ten, too.

This is an interesting read that covers how it was treated by Seven:

Rove started in 1999 on Nine at 11pm on Wednesday. After 10 episodes it was axed. it then moved to Ten in 2000 and was rebranded Rove Live.

This, The Mick Molloy Show, and Hey Hey It’s Saturday were all axed around the same time.

Now they’re being shown on ABC. Nice new prints too.

I often stayed up on Sundays to see Entertainment This Week. It was a good show, not like the tabloid stuff it became

A lot of Kid’s shows had repeat runs on the ABC. They still do now now on ABC Me. These days there are a lot of co-productions too so they will screen on Seven or Nine and then soon after on the ABC.

Always great movie and TV reviews and previews and it was good to get a heads up on the new American shows that were eventually coming to Australian screens. I remember being excited about Roseanne and Married With Children when I saw the hype on ET.

I can’t watch the show these days because of the rubbish they cover. It makes me sad to reflect on how great it used to be. I used to look forward to it airing after Ten’s Sunday movie every week.

So true. It was focused on the big news in television shows, movies and music. They always covered new releases and hits. It was the place to turn to find out what was trending.

Now it’s more like a women’s magazine with gossip, rumours, fashion and beauty tips dominating. :face_vomiting:

Was this both on ten and nine at some point?

Yes. Ten had it first.
