Did They Really Just Play That?

Let’s Go To Paradise by Mental As Anything on 4BH Friday night! Was a nice surprise.

Better than the stuff triple j usually plays! :+1:

I think evenings 2UE seems to expand the playlist a bit. Still safe, many safe tracks could be played. You could create a “safe” classic hits station with a lot of variety.

Harder To Breathe - Maroon 5

Currently playing on ‘Nights With Dave Gleeson’ on Triple M.

Oddly enough, when Maroon 5 had their first hit in 2002 with this song, Triple M Sydney used to play this quite a bit, but when pretty much all of their hits since have been very soft/pop, they’ve hardly played this song ever since.

I remember when this song came out being a little excited that this band with a rocky edge were getting famous. How wrong I ended up being on that

That’s my favourite song from them.

That’s one of their best hits👍

Agree, personally I don’t mind “Sugar” either, but that’s about it.

Still gets played on the regional MMMs alongside “This Love” and “She Will Be Loved” since the latter has been flogged to death on those stations and HIT Network for two decades now.

I think Triple M might have stuffed up on their music scheduling during ‘Nights With Dave Gleeson’ tonight, as both the 7pm and 8pm hours kicked off with AC/DC double shots.. surely they only meant to play one double shot?

Even though I like AC/DC, that’s too much of them.

Edit: They just said it was ‘Wednesday night’ … oops!

9:50pm on Triple M Nights with Dave Gleeson - undressed by sombr

Another song I felt was out of place on this station, as was the case with Lola Young’s “Messy”. undressed gets more frequent airplay on the other three majors (KIIS, Nova and 2DAY).

I think the Sombr song sounds great, and it’s fine to my ears on Triple M, still pop/rock, I couldn’t call it anything else really.

Happened to hear “If You Could Only See” by Tonic on “Nights With Dave Gleeson on Triple M Newcastle 102.9 and OldSkool 90s Hits with both stations playing the same song at the same time via LiSTNR!

That Tonic song belongs in the ‘Oh no…’ thread for mine. As has been mentioned here before, it’s a very mediocre song, somehow receiving regular airplay on commercial radio nearly 30 years after release. Another from the same era and provenance is ‘Sex And Candy’ by Marcy Playground.

I still like that Tonic song, but agree it still gets played a lot. Their other hit “You Wanted More” is an apt song title for the band name, and one that is lost to radio.

There was also ‘Open Up Your Eyes’ but that was about it for Tonic out here. Perhaps some gin was needed.

I agree,I never liked this song either,it’s bland and boring :-1:

That one is a great tune that deserves more airplay.

I agree. The only station I hear it played is Power100 Townsville.
