Death of Pope Francis/Election of Pope Leo XIV - Media Coverage

Well obviously not rolling coverage, but a few reports and mentions of it will definitely happen.

Emotional, though awkward RAI annoucement; note that the time appears to be 5:59 AEST

Looks like NZ TV coverage is pretty non-existent

A combined factor of the announcement happening well after the main 6pm news, the lack of any late bulletins anymore, as well as the Easter holiday.

CNN coverage this evening US time

If the federal election and the Popes funeral ended up being on at the same time, which would take precedent and which would be shifted to a secondary channel. One assumes the networks would carry both in some capacity

The funeral is usually 4 to 6 days after the death of a Pope or Pope Emeritus. PJP II’s funeral was 6 days after his death in 2005 and Benedict XVI’s was 5 days after his death

Interesting choice of headline for the second story on The Advocate front page in Tasmania this morning.

This bloke did a really weird opinion-esque cross during TMS

Inappropriate.

Unsurprisingly Fox News with the weird takes and bagging the pope for not being conservative enough

They really have no depths with their lies. Just vile stuff.

Are you surprised?

7 has Pope coverage on midday news.
