Very poor coverage by the commercial news services (especially Nine who unlike the other two, actually have a presence in Darwin) so far?
Honestly if something like this happened in Sydney or Melbourne, the networks would probably suspend programming for rolling coverage!

to be fair it’s probably a lot harder to get any ongoing coverage from Darwin given lack of resources and a news event in a city of 100,000 is less likely to get the same level of coverage as a city of 4 or 5 million.

According to how Australia and the US measures these kinds of gun attacks, this is a ‘mass shooting’ which has broken the spell since Port Arthur.

It probably won’t be, but this should be the story which makes Nine think “We made a mistake when we made major cutbacks in Darwin two years ago”!

I think it will be. A mass shooting on any scale in any city deserves national coverage. I expect that the breakfast shows, particularly Sunrise, will do special coverage in the morning.
