Dancing with the Stars

I just skimmed through the first two episodes just watching Ed Kavalee and Celia Pacquola. I think you are correct that the judges should decide so it’s not a popularity contest, but as the judges are deciding between the bottom two regardless of what the combined judges and public vote have concluded, they should not have a public vote. People are spending money thinking their votes matter when they really mostly don’t.

If they were voting to eliminate I would agree, but voting to save is a bit different. Essentially you are voting to keep your fav out of the bottom two and safe.

They do. Someone can stay out of the bottom for weeks if they have a lot of public support but keep scoring poorly. That’s like saying it was a waste to vote for X Facotr when the judges picked from the bottom 2 but many people avoid the bototm 2 the whole way.

I am going to the filming on Sunday. Starts at 5:30 apparently.

When did you apply for tickets? I’ve also applied and I’m curious how long it will take to hear back from them.

I applied when they first came out about a month or so ago.

Being at the studio at 5.30 for a 7.30 start sounds about right. By the time you sign in each audience member and assign them seats takes a while. And you get to listen to the “hilarious” warm up guy too :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks.

Not trying to be a ‘negative Nancy’ but have you checked that your tickets are marked ‘general admission’ as opposed to ‘expression of interest’? From what I understand everyone who applied for tickets were sent an email saying they had tickets for 23rd Feb, but in the small print it said this was a guide only and not the confirmed date. I received another email this week reminding me not to attend this week, despite what the email said, and that only tickets marked ‘general admission’ are valid.

(Just don’t want you to go to Docklands only to find you don’t have a ticket).

haha yes I have. They kept emailing to remind people. But they definitely say general admission.

Thanks I will keep post afterwards. I’m looking forward to it but dreading it as well. Waiting two and a half hours doesn’t exactly appeal to me.

Sounds a lot better then The Masked Singer (8hrs, with no where to get food and only a bottle of water, a mini chocolate and a snack packet of chips the entire shoot)!
Generally live shows are much better, at least you know they will finish and start roughly on time.

Anyone else find Beau Ryan awkward?

Guess what buddy, It’s not your show as much as he probably wants it to be. I think he thinks he needs to be hosting it, not dancing on it.

Richard Wilkins got some airtime but as Amanda said for the first time ever was silent on national televison

For me Celia has been an absolute standout. Even though she scored low this week I was surprised at how much energy and passion she showed every dance and it definitely showed a different side of her.

I’ve liked Dami from her X Factor days and thought she would do well and this week she didn’t disappoint. Although I don’t know Claudia that well she’s also been fantastic and really showcases the talents and versatility of our celebrities.

Although they aren’t the celebrities that we know of, I thought Chloe and Christian danced pretty well. Could actually help raise their profiles if they win at the end.

Wasn’t too impressed with Dean Wells during his dances, almost seemed like lame attempts at dancing with a lot of show-off vibes from him. Thankfully he’s gone now. I hope Ed and Travis continues to improve because I think they do have a lot of potential. As for Beau, never been a fan of him but his dancing is alright.

Also noticed Tony Martin and Tom Gleisner in the audience.

If only Sam Pang was there as well :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ed’s DWTS experience is going to give HYBPA plenty of jokes for Tom and Sam later this year. Let’s save that for a good laugh :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Glad Ed mentioned his tv starting career on Thank God You’re Here - where he was part of the ensemble team.

I’ve liked Celia’s dancing, even tonights.

Although I hadn’t known much of Christian Wilkins prior to DWTS, he has turned out to be a really likeable person, and I like his dancing. And nice having Richard in the audience too.

Glad tonight’s evictee is gone. Please no more reality shows for a while now… lol

Seems like viewers don’t regard reality show contestants as stars and are happy to let them go quickly.
