Dancing with the Stars

Yeah. Only about a dozen of them. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

If they have to stretch it for whatever reason, they should go 90 minutes at most on Sundays. Might give them some depth in their schedules.

I’ll give Chloe a pass since she is a singer (admittedly, a fairly obscure one) so that barely qualifies her as a celebrity. Is Christian Wilkins even that well known outside media circles? As for Dean, being on a reality show does not make him a celebrity (also see: Ash Pollard in 2015).

The others are pretty good and well known. Love Celia, Ed, Angie and looking forward to Dami and Claudia. Fairly indifferent about Beau but that’s just me.

My own opinion only but relatives and spouses of celebrities should not be considered celebrities (unless if they are well-established as a celebrity in their own right).

He was introduced as a model and podcaster. I guess that makes you a “star” these days.

Would’ve been funnier if Dickie himself competed :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Speaking of which, they were talking about big balls during the Live X to The Project at 7.25. Nine lawsuit coming :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:?

I was nervous at 840 when there was more than half a dozen dancers to go. 730-950 it seems. I think they are aware of it and not planned as they were cutting off some promos.

Not sure what that will do to the number, wonder if they pick up the MAFS viewers in the last half hour

Correct.
The first show was scheduled to finish at 9.30pm but is running way overtime, finishing at 9.47pm.

Understandable. My comment was more that all these shows go for 70-90 mins every night and my attention span cannot cope with that shit especially with ads. Free to air networks are insufferable.

This year’s cast seems to lack the personal storylines that added purpose to last year’s dances. Then, Samuel Johnson was performing for his sister and Courtney Act used the platform, conveying her message through dance, to speak about self-value and equality. Now, I know it is only week 1, but the dances are meaningless and I cannot see them carrying such weight that the dancers did last year, which is a problem that occurred in the later series on Channel 7.

I’m also unsure as to whether Q1 was the best place to put DWTS. They may pick up a few eyeballs if they continue to go after 9pm. But, unlike Surviour, I think it is going to struggle against MKR on Sundays.

This time last year, I might’ve agreed with you.

But with MKR so far collapsing and burning in the ratings, I actually think Dancing With The Stars might have a chance of scoring respectable numbers this year. Sure, it probably won’t outrate the cultural phenomenon that is Married At First Sight but this pretty much goes without saying.

Cultural? More like boorish.

I initially thought the lineup was a bit bland but last night’s show wasn’t too bad.

I’ve never been a fan of Christian Wilkins but his dancing was actually pretty good and he was mildly amusing. Mind you I think his antics will wear thin fairly quickly.

Chloe Lattanzi was quite good too, and I loved the touch of having Gene Kelly’s wife in the crowd, mentioning how Gene brought Chloe’s parents together (on the set of Xanadu).

I thought Angie was joking when she said she was unfit but apparently not. She’ll fall behind very quickly if she doesn’t get her act together.

Strangely, whenever Grant was upstairs talking to Amanda he was looking above the camera rather than into it which looked quite odd.

Not surprised with who went home tonight and I daresay won’t be very memorable either.

Am also not surprised on who left tonight.

On another note - Did they change the way the stars left the show? There was the bottom two, and then the judges chose who was safe and who left the show.

Wasn’t it always a 50-50 vote only - half from the judges, and half from the public?

It was a 50/50 vote before. The way they did it last night was the same method So You Think You Can Dance uses for eliminations.

I think thats the best way to decide which couple goes, the judges get to decide. I watched the show on 10 All Access,no annoying ads

I notice 10 has been showing localised promos in Melbourne this week, emphasising it’s a Melbourne production.

Have been all season

Made in Melbourne… with Sydney based talent. I bet they don’t advertise that.
