With Robert’s success on the US version, and him already being a 10 personality with an effective, chemistry tested screen partner in Julia Moris … could 10 reboot it, in a live format with a Robert & Julia hosting team?
It can either be something to alternate/replace with I’m a Celeb, or maybe there could be room for both on Rob’s Julia’s and 10’s Schedule (celeb in Summer (pre-recorded if need be), DWTS being Sunday (90 min Performance) /Monday (60 min Results Show, inc. bottom 2 dance off) in winter, post Masterchef)?
If seven does not have any plans for Dancing with the stars Australia next year. I could see Ten getting it and having Robert and Julia Morris host it and having Witney Carson as one of the Judges
It’s all about who they cast, the ratings have been in decline for the US DWTS for years and only increased the last 2 once they started casting influencers and a different demo of dancers and making it available on Disney+. Smart, but stunt casting can only be sustained for so long
I think the past 3 years of casting (since Harry and Rylee) has really put the show on the map for Gen Z.
However the profile of the professional dancers in the US is much different to here. The pros are often a bigger name than the celebs, and people online speculatively cast who they want to see pros with. DWTS US also has so much lore and history within the romances and showmances on the show, that the Aussie version can’t even come close to competing with.
Not sure that Tyra Banks hosting did the show any favours, she didn’t seem that popular or a great fit. Another attempt at trying to attract a younger audience, but it backfired??
Interestingly this is the first year where the ratings have grown during the season, previously as the season progressed, there was less eyeballs watching.
I disagree. Seven have been able to get higher profile stars in the past few seasons. Gibney, McCune, Micallef and Gunsberg would all have been out of reach once upon a time.
And the US version cast for multiple generations. Danielle, Elaine, Andy and Baron all skew much older than the younger Robert, Alix Earle and Dylan Efrons. However I think if Australia was to cast similar younger talent, it would alienate older viewers.
I wonder if Robert Irwin would won Dancing the Stars Australia even with Witney Carson as his dancing partner if he went on the Australia version instead of the U.S version.
Also I wonder why Robert Irwin decided go on the U.S version rather than the Australian version
Because he is an international star and they offered him a chance to do the American version. He was probably paid ten times more than he would have been paid in Australia.
I think with the success of the U.S. DWTS, 7 might be rethinking about its decision to rest the show. Especially after Robert there was been interest in the American version in Aus (at least social media). So if 7 is able to get some good cast it could do well for them again.
I think their official line was that their still making a decision on it, which could mean that they are waiting to see if they can get a good cast.
There would have been little benefit to him doing the Aussie version where he is already a breakout star. The US version opens up so many more potentially lucrative opportunities.
