Dancing with the Stars

It will be Nikki but they will edit it out.

Wonder if Seven are a little nervous tonight, given Travel Guides’ programming & success lately and how drawn-out the DWTS promos have been? Not to mention just about everything on Seven has been flailing in the ratings recently.

A Seven top programmer said in an article earlier this year they expected Dancing to be their best show in 2024.

Not sure what you mean? Nikki?

Btw. The dance studio Lisa McCune is training in is my Melbourne cousin’s studio. Same studio previously used for Kris Smith.

Idol did decently, Farmer did well, dream home has been lacklustre but not uncompetetive.

I dont think its a fair reflection that everything has been flailing.

It’s pretty drawn out. Just show the stars dancing.
There’s no need to show the professionals doing two dances (the opener, and mid-show), and talking to the competing stars competing next week…

Perils of it not being live. They can pad till the cows come home

Now it is getting ridiculous. What a waste of time with Julie Goodwin just now! I’m sorry for her injury but seriously sub in another dancer.

I saw a photo of Julie and her whole family on holiday on her Instagram a few days ago, and there was no sign of her injury.

It was filmed over 5 months ago

Sequins, spins and a shock injury

A torn calf muscle sees Julie Goodwin unable to dance

It was a sea of celebrities and sequins in tonight’s premiere of Dancing With The Stars on Channel 7 and 7plus.

Sonia Kruger and new co-host Dr Chris Brown introduced the 12 celebrities competing for the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy before dividing them into two groups, each set to take the dance floor on alternating weeks.

Star of stage and screen, Lisa McCune, kicked things off. Her fiery Tango scored an impressive 30 points, as judge Helen Richey exclaimed: “that’s what a tango should look like!”

Fashion designer and model Nadia Bartel wowed the audience with her energetic Cha-Cha-Cha, but failed to impress the judges, receiving only 17 points. Craig Revel Horwell declared: “The hip and leg action was not there in the slightest.”

SAS Australia ’s Ant Middleton brought military manoeuvres to his Paso Doble and scored 18 points. Sharna Burgess commented: “I love that you charge it around the floor. I love that you had power.”

Helen Richey didn’t hesitate to call Home and Away hunk James Stewart a “sexy beast” after witnessing his sizzling Cha-Cha-Cha that earned him 25 points.

Julie Goodwin was forced to withdraw from dancing in tonight’s episode after suffering two serious tears to her calf muscles in rehearsal. Unable to make her dancefloor debut, Julie hopes to dance again ahead of the series’ first elimination.

Despite putting his best foot forward, AFL legend Ben Cousins found himself at the bottom of the leaderboard, scoring just 14 points for his Foxtrot. While the dance wasn’t executed perfectly, all the judges agreed it was highly watchable, with Sharna Burgess describing him as “infectious to watch”.

The final leaderboard for the night:

  • Lisa McCune and Ian Waite: 30
  • James Stewart and Jorja Freeman: 25
  • Ant Middleton and Alex Vladimirov: 18
  • Nadia Bartel and Lyu Masuda: 17
  • Ben Cousins and Siobhan Power: 14
  • Julie Goodwin and Andrey Gorbunov: Unable to dance

Catch tonight’s performances below:

Next Sunday on Dancing With The Stars, the second group of celebrities including Samantha Jade, Adam Dovile, Shane Crawford and Nova Peris take to the dancefloor for the very first time.

DTWS and Masterchef personality seems to be a pretty toxic mix. First Matt Preston last year now Julie Goodwin with injury.

Hayden? Maybe its just old people

It doesnt necessarily mean she is out of the series. Could just be the first week.

What were the filming dates though between “week 1” and “week 3” of the competition? Weren’t they all filmed within days?

6 days apart

We all know the whole series is pre-recorded months ago but strangely when Julie Goodwin was on The Morning Show they acted like her injury just happened and “hopefully you’ll be back dancing in a few weeks”.

She hasn’t withdrawn though, has she? The release above says she hopes to dance before the first elimination meaning she could dance next week or the week after.

Everyone is avoiding spoilers so sometimes you have to read between what is being said.

She was injured. It was never said that she was out for the season and all media reports including Channel 7 says ‘she hopes to be back soon’.

The second group dances next week so should could dance in episode 3…
