Interesting that he has moved to radio after he was sacked by 7NEWS last year due to cost-cutting. Shame Burty isn’t on television, but good on 4BC for hiring him. Well done.

ABC Radio Brisbane has finished it’s rolling coverage for tonight - now heading off to Nightlife. Regular updates coming from Perth with Craig Smart. Updates are also airing on ABC North Coast, ABC Coffs Coast, and ABC Mid North Coast.
A couple note’s on coverage so far for tomorrow (note - subjected to changes and amendments):
ABC Gold Coast’s EPG currently list Scott Lamond as hosting a local Breakfast program - ABC Sunshine Coast will get it’s usual local Breakfast program with Tim Wong-See. Both will get Brisbane’s Mornings and Drive programs, rather than local programs. Stations that get the South QLD Drive program will get Brisbane’s Drive program - North QLD stations will continue to receive it’s usual Drive program at this stage (may not air due to usual host doing overnight coverage).
Kelly Higgins Devine said that evenings will be on air until 12am tomorrow and Friday (meaning a local program in place of national Weekend Evenings on Friday). Tomorrow, the program will commence from 6pm, airing in place of PM and ABC Sports Daily. Adam Stephen (North QLD Drive presenter) will be hosting overnight coverage on Friday morning following evenings.
I agree - it’s an unexpected surprise, but a pleasant one, especially when only a few years ago they were airing delayed weekend bulletins into Brisbane during major floods. Now, they are putting to air hours of live rolling coverage

That means no live NRL (Roosters v Broncos) on ABC Local Radio in Brisbane and Gold Coast I assume? 4BC will have rolling coverage all day tomorrow so won’t relay 2GB’s match call either.

Yep, and possibly Sunshine Coast as well since they are taking the rolling coverage in place of local programs - Regional QLD will get the match on analogue radio

Hoping everyone stays safe during Cyclone Alfred. It’ll be interesting to see how different news outlets cover the event—hopefully, the focus stays on providing accurate and helpful information rather than just sensationalism. Has anyone noticed any standout coverage so far?

The latest report from the BoM now has the Cyclone reaching Brisbane on Friday evening as a Category 1, and the possibility of crossing being delayed until Saturday.
Will Thursday’s rolling coverage continue into Friday?
