Cyclone Alfred - Coverage

I thought they were resuming from tomorrow?

In any case, it’s very windy in Brisbane tonight so that may be why.

It wasn’t open, they were repositioning flights, with operations due to start tomorrow but doesn’t look like it will be going ahead.

Ita a wild night across Brisbane tonight so I think they’ll have some damage to report on tomorrow!

Is anyone still on air?

Yeah by all accounts the wind tonight in Brisbane is worse than last night. Outages up to 270,000 properties.

A lot of complaints tonight from Brisbane residents about lack of any TV coverage tonight when the conditions are a lot worse. There is nothing on TV including ABC News that is showing a WA election.

Call to ABC said the Bald Hill radio antenna (4QR) is swaying in the wind.

whereabouts? To radio?

Whilst visually the 12-window screen seems a bit over the top, gotta hand it to Melissa and the team for putting in some long hours

At 11.11pm aedt, ABC News “interrupted” the W.A. Elections coverage for a News Update on the Cyclone. Not sure if there were any other updated in the first few hours of the Election Coverage or not.

Edit: Update ran for approx 5-6 minutes.

Amanda Abate and her cameraman found a dog called Ollie. Any update whether they were able to reunite Ollie with his owner, Adam?

2.00 am and Brisbane’s Northside still being smashed.
Reports of power outages and lines down. It’s a wild night and we’re nowhere near the end of this.

Update:
6am and the BOM map looks the same. Still being smashed by winds.
Looks like Sunrise and Today still more focused on the Gold Coast and Lismore.

Last night the BOM representative on ABC radio mentioned that the effects were now projected to alo impact Wide Bay for the first time. At the time, ABC Wide Bay was on the national program. This morning they are now taking the ABC Brisbane program. And just in time with a major storm impacting the area.

Bay FM still off air. Logan FM is back.

Was the Cyclone Alfred coverage on Today national or an opt-out for QLD/NNSW only?
Felt like a local window

ABC DAB+ off air on Gold Coast. Commercial still going.
