Why ? That’s not a good enough reason , you can’t change things to suit the weather.

To anyone else who watched the game or was at the match was the rain that bad ?

Course you can. Baseball does it all the time. Change it 24 hours before hand and tell people to get there earlier

Given the shithouse over rates we’ve had, serious consideration needs to be given to playing longer anyway

It’s a blockbuster upset at the MCG. Renegades at one point seemed unsinkable, then briefly sinked, then came back from the sinking.

Exciting win in the BBL, Renegades getting the 174 runs required on the 2nd last ball of the game with a Will Sutherland six off the bowling of the Stars Marcus Stoinis.

Tuned into the match during the closing stages and saw the two teams would now be competing for the Melbourne Mace.

Jackson Warne ran on to the pitch to present the trophy to Will Sutherland who hit a six to win the game for the Renegades.

In some good news, Adam Gilchrist confirmed that Damien Martyn had woken up after spending a week in an induced coma in a Gold Coast hospital.

68,124 at the MCG tonight for the derby, 3rd highest BBL attendance ever.

Note the derby now occupies the top four spots of that leaderboard. The first “other” game is Scorchers v Heat in Feb 2023 (53,886 at Optus).

I would tend to disagree. There is plenty of time to bowl the overs necessary, there is just a lot more general faffing around that goes on on both sides of the ball.

England dusted at 384. Close to tea time so it’s taken then.

Root notched 160 off 242. The rest absolutely forgettable.

Australia will bat 3.07pm AEDT. The day closed with them still down 218.

Day 3 over. Australia leads by 134 runs with 3 wickets remaining.

This test will be going all five (more like 4 2/3) days.

The first session tomorrow will probably be a good indicator of whether it will go the length or not - we’re probably pretty close to having enough runs to declare and put the Poms back in and ramp up the pressure.

If Aus can get a lead of 250 by lunch then I think will declare. I think England will be able to get a lead but if Australia can limit them to 350-400 then they might be able to chase it down in 30-40 overs since the target will most likely be less than 200

You are fucking kidding me. We had that and we fucking blew it. Time for players to be told to fuck off. Clean out time.

I’m now looking forward to the sale of the BBL and Cricket NSW to sell the Thunder to someone that will run it properly and stop favouring the fucking Sixers.

It’s the same unequal East vs West divide that is split along the Red Rooster line. The west (in this case The Thunder) always seen to get screwed over compared to the east (in this case The Sixers). And yes I did refer to the Thunder as a Western Sydney Team, its a bit like the Swans and Giants situation in the AFL.

As for me, no more BBL for me this year. Back to Macarthur FC and the Illawarra Hawks until the NRL and AFL seasons start.

All out 183 lead. If Eng bat sensibly and get a 200ish lead then the match will go Day 5 & probably be a draw. If they bat like they have most of this series then it could be over early Day 5

And Starc just… tied with Hadlee’s 431.

England was looking at a possible draw and then a a dumb shot happens and it’s essentially 5/38.

If Australia get on a roll and have a good end to the day, there could be with a shot at winning it tomorrow
