A Steve Waugh/Jason Gillespie moment happened tonight in a BBL Match between Scorchers and Thunder in Western Australia!

Just saw the video of the collision of Cameron Bancroft and Daniel Sams on social media. That was horrible. I hope both players will be OK.

Sorry Blaze and Amber What a performance from the Thunder. Absolutely brilliant. To beat Perth in the west. Rutherford, what a cameo! And Davey Warner, like him or hate him, he’s certainly done wonders for this team.

Close but no cigar for the Scorchers. Perth has been…

Glad the Thunder won.

To get the runs when 15 were needed off the last over against a team like the Perth Scorchers at home where they had won 19 of their last 22 is a pretty good effort.

I preferred the Sydney Test when it was a reliable wash-out.

According to 7’s pre match with Simon Taufel, virtual eye who Fox uses for DRS had the LBW hitting zone to include top of the stumps as per the playing conditions.

Simon confirmed with ICC general manager of cricket that they want the top of the bails. This was a change made in 2021.

If Virtual eye used the change made in 2021, the Jaiswal LBW at the MCG would have been changed to out instead of umpire call.

Then why isn’t this reflected in the ICC playing conditions?

From 2021

The ICC cricket committee has made changes to the way lbws will be adjudged under the Decision Review System, effectively increasing the area of the stumps a ball must be shown as hitting for a not out decision to be overturned. This “wicket zone” will now be extended all the way to the top of the bails, having previously gone only to the bottom of the bails, which is why deliveries just clipping the bails ended up staying with the umpire’s call on the field. By DRS protocol, If more than half the ball is predicted to hit this region, an on-field call of not-out is reversed.

While the rule or technology rule changed to include the bails, the playing conditions and laws still mentions the top of the stump. So that could be the confusion. And why Simon mentions that ICC should check with the tech provider each series that it’s calibration is to the changes from 2021

Howie writes them down as 10.

This is a problem of the ICC’s making, not Fox’s - this change hasn’t been reflected in either of the two key documents that set out how the game is to be officiated.

I thought that was their IQs.

Are the people on the boundary collecting the balls etc allowed to grab the ball before it crosses the boundary?

I would hope not.

It happened when Alex Carey hit a boundary. Unless my eyes deceived me.

Things getting interesting now for this test and series, especially this pitch, India will feel confident to bowl the Aussies out with plenty of time remaining. It’ll be disappointing if wickets quickly fall again though, then I’d see a pretty short SCG test.

Is it true though that Bumrah won’t be able to bowl for 2 hours? And that carries to the next bowling session?

This will be over by tomorrow. Such a shame.

Don’t cry because it’ll be over, be glad because it happened
