Speaking of the BBL. Something I’m curious about is what the living arrangements are of a player who plays for a Franchise that is in a different state to where they play their State cricket.
Do they rent an apartment in that city? AirBNB or does a local team mate put them.up?
It is a real credit to Chris Lynn and a great honor for him and his standing in the game. The fact that Player with the best hair in the BBL is peer-voted means this is an award that carries significant weight among players. When you look at that top five, all of them have a substantial social media presence and Chris Lynn was genuinely humbled when bestowed with the honor by Mark Howard of Fox Sports on January 1.
It is his clean cut image that has seen him win this award for the second year in a row, an image that Cricket Australia is very keen to advance in its promotion of the game. Likewise, when Ryan Papenhuyzen won the Golden Clippers award for best hair in the NRL in 2021.
Most major sports have a best hair gong for the player who not only looks good, but whose conduct is exemplary both on and off the field. It is a tradition which can be traced back to when the God-fearing, squeaky-clean, good-looking pin-up boy Tim Tebow won the inaugural NFL’s best hair in 2010.
Covers are on the SCG this morning and it was raining… We know it’s expected to be mostly dry, at least the first few of days, but just thought it was a good LOL moment given the Sydney Test’s history and annual ‘rain’ comments from the public
Good initiative but sometimes its goes too far in my view. My daughter plays girls blast and they had a bbq day initiative to bring a friend. She wanted to bring a male friend but couldn’t. Considering they are just 6 year old kids. In the end there was a big electrical storm so it got cancelled. Not sure if it was karma. Anyway having girls only cricket is still good and I support the idea, but bring a friend day should be males / brothers etc (in the correct age group). If they the boy wants to continue to play they can join another comp that allow for mixed.
That’s interesting. I know it’s a case of wanting girls to have their own teams etc but i believe the blasts are a lot more informal.
I don’t know if cricket ever had a cut off age for when girls could play in teams with boys but when i played Under 15s there was a team in our division that was made up of half their team being girls. Mind you we’re talking 30 years ago
