I think that’s what happened in the NZ v ENG World Cup ODI Final in 2019, where both teams tied on 241 runs. ENG won on a fours and sixes countback.

Don’t some of the competitions have a rule where if this happens, they play another Super over?

WBBL and BBL do, but only for Finals games. Not sure about other comps like IPL.

Disagree - the shorter forms of the game treats it as a one-sided affair that favours batsmen. You might as well have a bowling machine deliver the overs

Something weird with the Optus Stadium pitch. 17 wickets fell yesterday, but only three today, as India dominated with ball and bat. India finished the day on 0/172, leading Australia by 218 runs.

A combination of the pitch settling down, better batting from the Indians, and the Aussie bowlers being just a bit off in the 2nd innings. AUS also missed a couple of chances in the field too.
Day 1 pitches are often tricky to bat on, particularly in the first session, though this pitch has taken that to the extreme.
Another thing that helped India was to pick 5 bowlers.

Alyssa Healy will miss the ODI series due to a knee injury. Tahlia McGrath will lead Australia in Healy’s absence, with Ashleigh Gardner named vice-captain.
Cricket Australia also confirmed that fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck underwent shoulder surgery last week and would be unavailable for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

I was surprised that India declared with more than 2 days to go.
533 runs should be plenty, but there is plenty of time for AUS to ba get them if they are good enough, as unlikely as it is.
I was thinking that IND might bat for an hour tomorrow, push the lead out near 600 and totally demoralise them as weather won’t be factor.

McSweeney’s been dealt a rum hand by the selectors by asking him to face Bumrah and Siraj with the new ball given no experience of opening the batting in shield cricket. He seemed like a rabbit in the headlights. A good chance he won’t be opening the batting by the end of the series.

I agree that all of those would have probably failed as well, but McSweeney is a middle order batter and unless he’s mentally tough this experiment can ruin his career. I’d have given Harris a go, and hoped that he’d at least average 30 until Sam Konstas is ready for the step-up.

Agree, I’ll be surprised if they are still batting after tea.
I wonder if the Aussies were just a bit complacent going into this game, given India had just lost at home 0 - 3 to the Kiwis?
Still, most of our bats have been out of form for a while. But there are not many Shield batters demanding to be picked either.
