That’s fair, although I would argue that bilateral series are not really being used as a basis for selection for ICC tournaments in a lot of cases- especially when you see the Aussies sending out second-string sides in series such as the current Pakistan series as it is.
As disappointing as it is. To suggest that Cricket Australia were taking this series seriously would be nothing short of a joke.
Pakistan have won the ODI series 2-1 with a resounding 8 wicket victory and 23.1 overs to spare.
A depleted Australian side, without the Test stars, was just not in the contest.
But what a triumph for interim Pakistan white ball coach Jason Gillespie.
It’s contractual. CA would dump ODers if they didn’t have to have them.
Lizelle must have read your post!
She hit another century today in the Hurricanes 28 run win over the Adelaide Strikers.
Quite possibly the first time back to back centuries have been scored in domestic or international T20s, mens or womens.
It doesn’t happen too often. But I do recall Steve Smith hitting two centuries in a row in the BBL a couple of years ago. I think Phil Salt from England did it at international level recently as well.
In another interview with Code Sports, Darren Lehmann revealed selectors had decided that Phillip Hughes would replace Chris Rogers in the Australian Test side. The selectors meeting was held before Hughes was felled at the SCG in the tragic incident that took his life in November 2014.
Australia beat Pakistan by 13 runs in the second T20 match at the SCG tonight, and won the three-match series with game 3 in Hobart to come on Monday.
Spencer Johnson was named player of the match for taking 5/26 from four overs.
The home side had a fast start, reaching 51 runs after 3.5 overs, before losing wickets at regular intervals and finishing on 9/147 after 20 overs. Pakistan dropped five catches which proved to be the main difference at the end.
Attendance tonight was 31,563.
I was there tonight. Bumper crowd there tonight too. Triple M in commentary were claiming it was a sell out but there were still plenty of empty seats but an excellent crowd nonetheless. Though i would say that a large percentage were Pakistan supporters
I’ve noticed larger venues will often close off entire sections and not sell any tickets for it, thus force everyone into the same areas and claim a sell out as in “all tickets made available for sale were sold”. Some empty seats might be members who didn’t turn up.
Australia romped to a seven wicket win over Pakistan in the third and final T20 game in Hobart tonight, achieving a 3-0 clean sweep. Marcus Stoinis was player of the match for making an unbeaten 61 from 27 balls, while Spencer Johnson was named player of the series.
Earlier, Pakistan flew out of the blocks, reaching 1/61 in the 7th over, before suffering a batting collapse of 9/56 to be all out for 117 in 18.1 overs, thanks to the bowling efforts of Aaron Hardie (3/21), Adam Zampa (2/11) and Spencer Johnson (2/24). The home side reached the target with 52 balls to spare.
A new partnership announced at the launch of Cricket Australia’s third Reconciliation Action Plan is set to increase support for Indigenous kids in rural communities.
Partnering with the Ashleigh Gardner Foundation (AGF) is one way CA will work to create more opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to participate in cricket. The National Indigenous Cricket Training Camp, which is currently taking place at the MCG, is another avenue alongside the National Indigenous Cricket Championships which travels to Mackay for the first time next year.
Super Over Tie in the WBBL tonight between Sixers and Scorchers.
Both teams scored 126 off their 20 overs, and 15 runs each in their Super Over.
Had it been a final, at least one more Super Over each would have been bowled.
Not factoring in wickets is dumb - 0/15 is better than 1/15
Wickets weren’t used to determine the winner after the 20 overs either.
Scorchers were all out 126, Sixers only lost 7 wickets in their 126.
I don’t think you can make wickets a factor in the Super Over if it isn’t used to split teams after the regular innings are completed.
It makes more sense as a factor than a countback on fours/sixes, which is more common.
