Gave me the same vibes of the 2020 T20 match between Aus & SL. Aus bowled well and kept SL to around 115ish & were 3 or 4 wickets down early but still won with about 1 over left.
A remarkable test match took place in Multan this week. After Pakistan put on 556 in their first innings (including three centuries), England amassed 7/823 declared, with Joe Root and Harry Brook both making their highest individual test scores - 262 and 317 respectively. Root and Brook put on 454 for the 4th wicket. Then the home side crumbled to be all out for 220 on the final day, giving England victory by an innings and 47 runs and a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series.
Pretty much ever since Andrew âFreddieâ Flintoff proved to be the difference in that classic 2005 Ashes series in England, the Aussies have seemed hellbent on having a batting all-rounder in their line up.
Picking the best 6 batters, 3 front line pace bowlers and 1 spinner should be enough to win most test matches. And a keeper that can bat as well.
West Indies qualified for the semi-final of Womenâs T20 World Cup for the first time in six years, after beating England by six wickets in the final group match overnight. In the semi-finals, Australia will play South Africa, while New Zealand will face the Windies.
Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe has been sacked by the BCB for the alleged âassaultâ of a player during the 2023 ODI World Cup.
I called Shane Watson âThe Answerâ for this reasonâŚthe answer to Flintoff. Mostly used ironically because of his inconsistency at international level!
I still get visions of an oversized front pad when I think of Watto, given his uncanny ability to get out LBW.
He was always a work in progress as far as being a genuine superstar all rounder like Flintoff (and Jacques Kallis) were, who are the only two who ever fit that bill for me. Watto never quite got there.
