Consider that people keep talking about it because they think it is worth mentioning in the conversation about David Warner’s legacy.

Warner has been the beneficiary of a significant campaign to rehabilitate and wash over his frankly poor reputation in the light of sandpaper-gate. His career should have ended when he was banned for his involvement, instead, he was given an indefinite ban from a role he was never going to get (Australian Captain) and welcomed back

Our success has been key in him retaining his spot for at least the last 12 months (and facilitating this vapid farewell tour), by rights should have been dropped when his form slumped (and basically stayed there for an extended period)

An exciting and tense 1 run win in the BBL tonight!

The Heat batted first and made 7/132 off their 20 overs, which looked to be.below par.

The Hurricanes were 4/22 early on and then a rain delay intervened shortly after. The innings and target was reduced to 118 of 16 overs.

The match seesawed in the later overs as some big hitting from Niki Chaudury and Tim David pulled the Hobart side back into it.

Late wickets fell and the Canes fell 1 run short, finishing at 9/116 on the last ball with a run out.

The Heat have now won 6 games in a row for the first time in their 13 seasons.

Australia celebrated Ellyse Perry’s 300th international game by defeating India by six wickets in the second women’s T20 match at Navi Mumbai overnight. Perry was the top scorer with 34 not out and put on an unbeaten partnership of 36 with Phoebe Litchfield (18 not out) to help the Aussies reach the target of 131 with six balls to spare.

Earlier, India were restricted to 8/130 from their 20 overs. Kim Garth, Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham each took two wickets, but Perry didn’t bowl.

The three-match series is now level at 1-1 with game 3 at the same venue on Tuesday night Indian time.

I don’t want to exactly equate them - but given how far the ICC pushed in terms of their allowances for the various Black Lives Matter actions by players, it certainly seems a double standard.

They were right to allow and often encourage those actions, while cracking down on a far less consequential action from Khawaja is very unneccessary.

Opposing messages of peace is such a weird place for a sporting body to be in.

The only issue I could see was with the initial message being in the Palestinian colours (and in my view that message would be fine if in neutral colours), the black armband on the other hand is not an issue at all and it’s rather awkward and hypocritical of the ICC to sanction him when they’ve set a precedent by backing other social causes like BLM in the past.

What’s the go with the Big Bash starting at 7:40 tonight and also some other games in the coming week.

Because Home and Away has returned to Seven, the previous start time of 7.15pm is not possible.

The games go too long already, this is a really bad move IMO

It was possible last night and it’s possible on Thursday.
I guess it’s for the non AEDST markets but it feels odd to change it near the end of the season

Agreed.

What are you saying T20 is to long? Should we go to t10? Or T5?

There’s too much fucking around for a T20 game. Needs to be quicker and that’s on the teams and umpires.

The BBL introduced a time limit for each innings this year - I dont think it’s been triggered once, despite games dragging out ridiculously.

The sporting bodies need to push back against these later starts (the AFL have the same issue with the same broadcaster) - it borders on ludicrous that a live sports event is delayed so a broadcaster can show a soapie.

7.40 is really not that bad though - it could be worse. I think we’re all tough enough to stay up an extra half an hour to watch the game.

It’s surprising 7 has any pulling power at all here.

I’d start bang on 7pm AEDST for the night time games. Literally have the presenters of 7 news throw to the first ball ( If Fox wants to build up for half an hour, fine but I’m unconvinced the 10-15 minutes of build up is entirely necessary and any topics/team news couldn’t be covered in between balls.

7:05 then, you need to cover the toss and the team lineups mate. Otherwise have the preshow on 7Mate like AFL.

Half an hour is a big change to people’s nightly routines/sleeping habits, especially as the population heads back to work.

I’m unconvinced you need to cover the toss in T20.
Just tell us who won, or play a clip from it. PiP if you want.
Most of the Big Bash line-ups are largely the same game to game and if they’re not, well the commentators can tell us through the first couple of overs.
