Ohhh and the Aussies picking THREE specialist spinners PLUS Head? Also that Warner Labuschange and Smith can all bowl spin too. Seven Spinners. . That must be a first for any team? Even India wouldn’t pick that many spinners…
And according to the ABC blog, T20 cricket is now 18 years old… It can now go and have a well earned beer (except here in the US). Happy 18th T20.
And @Laoma i will post a Hawaii radio feature hopefully tomorrow with a focus on HD Radio.
Interesting match in NZ with England playing ‘BazBall’ and NZ playing more ‘traditional’ cricket. NZ are 9/291 and having a strong ‘dead cat bounce’ for the last wicket; that’s in reply to England BazBalling 9/325 declared on the first day (well before stumps, mind).
I am listening to the NZ match on talkSport SOCCER 2.
Watching Aus v Ind on that. I did flick to the NZ game in the lunch break.
It annoys me how tests are inevitably scheduled at the same time, probably due to the need to compress test tours around the T20 windows. Would actually not be a problem if the NZ game was a traditional day match but alas, it’s a D/N test and most of it clashes.
Kayo/Foxtel cover every other overseas tour bar this one. A shared rights deal would be more logical, like in the home summer.
You bet. Although I miss the classic Ch9 commentary team greatly, I’ve never gotten over ‘Sydney/Melbourne viewers will now leave us for news and current affair’… and missing countless key passages of play in the 90s and early 00s because of it! Not to mention the poor coverage of the overseas Ashes tours in those years, prioritising low brow sitcoms over the cricket. Thank goodness for Kayo and multichannels these days, but if Nein Now don’t allow us to watch on demand whilst hogging the exclusive rights, it’s a bit of a return to those days imo. Yep it’s a rant but I’m allowed one or two.
Trying to watch two games at once is a bit too much for my simple (visual) brain I prefer listening to one and watching the other. I’ve actually never used split screen!
Much better batting by Australia today, scoring 263 in the opening day of the second test against India. Usman Khawaja made 81 while captain Pat Cummins chipped in with 33. Peter Handscomb remained not out with 72. Steve Smith made a second ball duck, one of Ravi Ashwin’s three scalps. Mohammed Shami was the leading wicket taker with 4/60.
India are 0/21 at stumps. David Warner didn’t field when India were batting this afternoon as he felt unwell.
Warner got hit on the arm when batting, there was a bit of delay whilst he got treatment for that, so I’m guessing his inability to field is related to that?
And so the 20/20 style test cricket continues in NZ after 34 overs England are 4-212. I am not sure what to think. This newish style will continue to revive test cricket? At least they are not strict on wides and have the same fielding restrictions. You can bowl your bowlers as long as you like. And even a tail ended can have a go at batting. Conclusion I think its still better than 20/20.
