I was surprised that Jadeja wasnt seen to immediately after taking a hit to the helmet - I thought that was the new protocol.

It really depends on the quality of your team and where its strengths lie - the teams that do well defending have strong “at-the-death” bowlers.

Last night, Australia lacked batting firepower and their bowling in the last 7 or so overs wasnt up to the required standard (especially given they had been able to keep India under control)

New Zealand have smashed the West Indies by an innings and 134 runs. West Indies won the toss and opted to field. New Zealand performed very well with skipper Kane Williamson scoring his best score, 251 runs off 412 balls. NZ declared for 7/519 at 145 overs. It was West Indies turn to bat. West Indies failed to reach 150 runs in their first innings where they were bowled out for 138 off 64 overs. West Indies opted the follow-on. The West Indies 2nd innings was much better than their 1st innings with Jermaine Blackwood scoring 104 off 141 runs. West Indies were all out for 247. The last time that West Indies won a Test match in New Zealand was back in February 1995. Why is it very hard for the West Indies to win a match over in New Zealand? :disappointed:

The West Indian players only care about franchise cricket now sadly and the t20 form so their test team is virtually dead unfortunately

The long running pay dispute between the players and the West Indian Cricket Board is at the heart of why - the players pay was cut after dramatically under a new deal with the WICB, so players went to play franchise cricket over playing for their country

India won the Twenty20 series by claiming game 2 at the SCG by six wickets tonight. An under-strength Australian bowling without Starc, Hazelwood or Agar, and Stoinis unable to bowl with a side strain, was no match for the big hitting of Dhawan, Kohli and Pandya.
With Aaron Finch a late withdrawal due to an injured glute, Australia still scored 5/194 with stand-in captain Matthew Wade hitting a half century and Steve Smith smashing 46.
If India wins game 3 on Tuesday, it will be at least second in the ICC Twenty20 world rankings, with Australia slipping to third.

I thought this was interesting that Smith was overlooked for the captaincy.

The press and social media reaction to that would have been interesting has he been reinstated, even if only as a fill in to Finch.

Tasmania have not had a case of community transmission since August 10, but will have crowds limited to 50 per cent.

That equates to around 6100 spectators at Blundstone Arena and 6800 at University of Tasmania Stadium for the biggest sports events in Hobart this year.

The ACT’s streak is 150 days without a locally acquired case, the longest in the country.

Despite that, Canberra’s Manuka Oval will at this stage be limited to 65 per cent – or around 6000 – for its six matches.

Australia won the third and final T20 clash at the SCG tonight, beating India by 12 runs. The result means India won the series 2-1, but it will stay third in the ICC T20 world rankings with Australia second. Australia was sent into bat for the second game in a row and made 5/186, with Matthew Wade smashing 80 from 53 balls. Given the Aussies scored 194 on Sunday and still lost, the target of 187 should be a walk in the park for India, however Australian bowlers had other ideas with spinners Swepson and Zampa grabbing key wickets in the middle overs (Swepson taking a Twenty20 career best 3/23 and was named player of the match). Virat Kohli scored 85 off 61 after being dropped twice and almost led his team to victory.

Seems fair, since Perth is nearly halfway to South Africa for us easterners!

If Fox Cricket is to broadcast this exclusively as they normally would, they would need Seven to do something similar to the ODIs/T20 to get around the anti-siphoning laws. Won’t that mean cooperation between CA and Seven? That could be a problem.

Cricket South Africa will still be the host and control the broadcast rights if the tests move to Perth. Therefore it will have to apply to ACMA for an exemption from the anti-siphoning laws.

no because it isn’t an Australian test series, it is South Africa controlling everything just hosting it in Australia

It doesn’t matter. Anti-siphoning would apply as the the Test would be played in Australia and involves Australia.

That would be unprecedented, wouldn’t it? FTA (Nine and probably Seven) would be interested in the rights.

There’s probably be an exception given the extraordinary circumstances and no one envisaged a scenario like this.

They also probably never envisaged a saga where Seven would choose not to activate their limited overs rights either.

They may just have to fight it out in court then. They will most likely set the field up as if it was being played in South Africa, so you will still see sponsors that are irrelevant to Australia.

Yep, will be like the Argentinian and New Zealand “home” games during the Tri Nations where their sponsors were shown on the turf and electronic billboards etc

Why not let England come here with South Africa to finish off the summer over here. It appears the tour has been abandoned? Day/nighters in Perth.
