Kevin Roberts’ turbulent time as Cricket Australia CEO is officially over, after the leader was sacked after losing the support of the board.

Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings brought the curtain down on Roberts’ 20-month tenure, with staff informed of the decision on Tuesday morning.

World Cup chief executive Nick Hockley has been appointed interim boss of Cricket Australia as the company searches for a full-time replacement.

Roberts was given the top job in October 2018 following James Sutherland’s 17-year tenure, beating a field that featured former Cricket NSW chairman John Warn, current CA director John Harnden and WACA chief executive Christina Matthews.

Warn, Harnden and Matthews would all be highly-rated candidates should they wish to apply again.

Roberts follows a number of high profile CEOs to leave their post, with Todd Greenberg (NRL) and Raelene Castle (Rugby Australia) among those to have been shown the door in recent months.

Is that even live?

No, its the highlights program which airs on BBC2 at 7pm after each days play of each test match/next 7pm after the end of an ODI or T20I.

The commentary must be from BBC Radio 4’s Test Match Special team.

I believe it’s separate.

Correct, they do commentary seperatly for the TV highlights show. Same as how Ch 4/Ch 5 did theirs.

Do they commentate just from the edited highlights, or do they take shifts calling the action at the ground (just like radio) for each session of play, and have the commentary edited during breaks?

They call it live at the ground as it happens, and then it is all edited into a 45-50 minute program.

That’s a lot of commentary left on the cutting room floor.
