Somebody didn’t do their fact-checking I see.

I don’t even know how that could even be mixed up. How? :joy:

Since the new deal is for 2024 summer, I assume there will more negotiations & possible bids before the new broadcast partner/s are announced

Fox will try everything to keep cricket. 10/P+ is the best if ODI’s are back on FTA TV

Seven should be nowhere near the negotiations… they’re suing and should be excluded outright. It’s like CA has Stockholm syndrome.

This current rights deal has been a disaster based with fox and seven. They need to move on to resurrect the sport and Paramount has offered big dollars.

Sounds familiar to the recent AFL rights

The AFL had that same problem.

Let’s hope this is, as said in the article, signed off before Christmas.

Also, they might be in talks with seven/fox but would mean both those networks would have a larger amount to pay up.

Does seven, who from day 1 of getting the rights really want to pay more for a product they already don’t like? How very strange if they do and what do they have left after paying overs for AFL. :man_shrugging:

Well today in two weeks it’s Christmas Day, so who will cricket australia give an early Christmas present too?

If Paramount do win the rights, could we see drastically phoned-in coverage until Fox and Seven’s deals are up?

The only promising element of that article is that Paramount and CA have been working on a potential long form contract and are headed in the right direction. Seems like CA keeping the door open to fox/7 in the hopes they match and beat the offer. It would be a disaster for cricket if they have the same arrangements for cricket. Seven are pathetic and foxtel have very little broad reach and are just signing deals to feed Delaneys ego.

This is called…negotiating.

If CA go with ten, (big IF), It wouldn’t surprise me if Seven pull the pin early to recover some financial loss.

This could also settle the legal battle going on at true moment.

It’s hard to see how CA could contemplate dealing with Seven after the law suite. You’d think they would stay right away from them unless Seven drops tthe suit. I think it’s probably more that case athat it is Foxtel trying to keep in the negotiations rather than Seven.

But Foxtel wouldn’t drop it early, you’d just see minimal extra programming/coverage beyond the matches.

But they’ve already had multiple rounds of offers and the incumbents haven’t offered. They need to move on and sign with the biggest bid.

7/fox aren’t offering what paramount can offer. 7 are suing the organization and fox don’t have the reach or a FTA partner and meanwhile Cricket dies a slow death. The definition of insanity is repeating the same things expecting a different outcome.

10/Paramount should be worried that despite them supposedly leading the bidding, CA are still unconvinced to the extent they’ve left the door open to 7/Foxtel. Obviously as I mentioned above they’re negotiating, but if CA were that blown away by the 10/P package you’d think the deal would be sorted.

Clearly there are some worries about 10/P.

Then there would be a problem with the 2023-2024 season as Foxtel would still have rights (highly doubt they would give it up early) and I doubt there will be a 10/Paramount/Fox/Kayo deal for one year. I could see Seven putting all BBL on 7mate if they lose rights however, and maybe even tests.

Something also tells me if Foxtel loses rights, they will get angry that they will not have a summer sport and sue Seven, CA, TA, Nine and Paramount.

Only because of the campaign being run by News Corp to sow seeds of doubt. Organizations have been unable to negotiate in good faith while News Corp continually destroys the media sector in this country.

Sounds like 10 Daily needs to return for some counterspin
