Cricket on Radio

No coverage of the big bash cricket in Sydney on dab radio tonight. Don’t get why SEN Fanatic doesn’t have it. It just duplicates SEN 1170.

Due to SEN’s Australian Open coverage, BBL broadcasts for the remainder of home and away season will be restricted to SEN Fanatic on DAB radio plus a couple of SENTrack stations.

Tonight it looks like most local radio stations have bbl.

Has he been calling much cricket at SEN? I recall he did ODIs and domestic stuff when he was with the ABC years ago and wasn’t too bad.

Actually thought I’d tune in via the Cricket Australia app only to find Triple and and SEN both streaming the ABC stream

Same I noticed that too! A bit sloopy in my view.

I wonder if we will get radio coverage for the test matches in NZ. SENZ don’t have the rights to bring international cricket in NZ? Its Radio sports gold ? Not sure if the ABC have the budget to do it?

Edit:

I think we can hear the matches in Australia on SEN. I hope they have it on the main stations. It is a shame about the south african team not a tfull strength.

Listening to SEN they were interviewing Shamar Joseph (he is a great bowler, great story), oops a technical problem, then heard , what happened then what the f*** from someone at SEN before returning to the interview. Anyway it happens, nothing is perfect  .

Was it 3MP or 3AK that tried to challenge Keith Stackpole et al’s dominance on 3LO with Henry Blofeld and others in about 1989?

It was 3AK, here’s a snip from the Green Guide.

I wonder if the Channel Nine commentators were being paid extra or just a cheap way for Bond to establish a radio team. Dawson was also part of their VFL lineup having left the ABC.

I don’t recall listening to much of it, 1503 wasn’t well suited to talk radio especially in the car with electrical interference.

Anyone interested Talksport 2 has ball by ball coverage for the test series in India. 4 tests. No VPN needed. Meanwhile on BBC Sports Extra get the ABC for the test series in Australia. I must say the radio coverage is pretty good in England.

It also has popped up in the SEN app.

There was a reunion of former ABC colleagues at The Gabba today, as posted by ABC Radio’s Zane Bojack on X/Twitter.

One of the great things about doing the Gabba Test is catching up with old friends.

Great to see @AlisterNicho in his Ch7 gear with @BenCameron23 @QuentinHull - the old @abcsport team back together 😉 pic.twitter.com/sJ68mNPDo3
