It is sad to hear too, for those of us too young to have known Alan McGilvray, Jim will always be the voice of ABC cricket coverage. Almost as iconic a voice on the radio as Richie was on the TV. Might it be the best outcome for all if the ABC were to âmanageâ his retirement, maybe after a big series like the next ashes?

Karen Tighe said on ABC Grandstand this afternoon that ABC Local Radio would broadcast the T20 cricket tripleheader next Saturday (February 8): the womenâs match between Australia and India from Melbourne, then the Bushfire Bash and the BBL grand final from the SCG.
9 Radio isnât broadcasting the Womenâs International T20 tri series as they are contractually obligated to. ABC Radio isnât contractually obligated to broadcast the BBL Final.
I wonder if they have to, or its optional given ABC can do it. Does SEN have coverage?
SEN only have rights to test matches and the BBL
Thatâs not got them into many markets. CA musnât be too concerned about radio coverage.
ABC Radio will have coverage of the ICC Womenâs T20 World Cup, which starts tomorrow night (Friday) in Sydney when Australia take on India. Coverage is via Grandstand Digital, online and ABC Listen app with some matches also broadcast on ABC Local Radio depending on match-ups and time of day. The final on March 8 will be on Local Radio.

BBC Radio has its own commentary team at the Womenâs T20 World Cup with Henry Moeran and England player Alex Hartley. When Australia hosted the menâs World Cup in 2015 it was a joint broadcast involving the ABC and the BBC plus Sport Radio NZ for matches in New Zealand.

Tonight sounded like a joint broadcast with BBC commentators and stingers for ABC Grandstand and BBC Radio 5 Live.
