COVID-19: News Coverage đŸ˜·

What in the actual heck is that name?

Without wanting to veer this off topic, these facts are utterly incorrect and posting them like this is irresponsible.

  • The overall suicide rate in 2015 was 12.6 per 100,000 in Australia. This is the highest rate in 10-plus years
  • The most recent Australian data (ABS, Causes of Death, 2015) reports deaths due to suicide in 2015 at 3,027

Something needs to be done to communicate to younger millennials/gen z - this group and the boomers seem to be less interested in the need to social distance

No it doesn’t. Back down.

No mate, it doesn’t.

Go and be outraged about something else, somewhere else.

Do we really need a Saturday edition of A current affair? Talk about overkill.

I agree, whilst it’s a serious issue, people will soon start to tune out because of information overload and a lack of definitive information
They will just want to know if it’s getting worse/better and any government decisions eg. closures, lockdowns etc that directly affect them.

Are you watching it?

My guess is you’re not.

Because if you were, and you just saw the sky news package they ran from Europe. You wouldn’t be calling it overkill.

Anyone capture it? I’ll post it if it gets uploaded online.

This forum has been getting notably heated over the past few days. I understand there is a pandemic but can everyone just take a moment to calm down
?

In the end of the day, the media organisations are doing their absolute best to cover this virus. We are all working extremely hard around the clock to ensure comprehensive coverage is delivered to you.

We should be grateful that networks are even considering to have shows like ACA on at special times, areas like Darwin delivering additional coverage despite being suspended and Sky News delivering basically 24/7 coverage. This takes true dedication, heaps of unpaid overtime work and sacrificing advertising revenue to keep you informed.

Exactly right.

And why do people care that ACA is on tonight?

Were you really hanging out to watch that Saturday night movie? Come on

Let’s stop the attack on media.

Someone touched a nerve hey?

Was flicking over and did see it. That sky news report was all over fb and Twitter today and saw it numerous times over 12 hours ago. It could’ve been played in the news. There’s no need for a 1 hour ACA.

He’s got a point. It’s like somebody comes running up to you yelling a bomb is about to go off you need to run, and your response is to tell them they’re being hysterical and you’re upset at their tone.

Did Seven (non-AFL markets) do something for 15min at 7pm tonight? One online guide I saw had “7” as Iron Man 2 but oddly “7HD” had news extended to 7:15pm? Might’ve been an error.

Maybe a method to give viewers the option to not watch extended coverage?

It could also prevent TV guides going out of whack as we’ve seen over the past few days.

Sounds similar to how Sky News Aus & News Corp downplay the climate crisis, and Fox News Channel in a 48-hour period flipped from calling COVID-19 a hoax to then trying to blame it on lefties.

With more people currently at home on a Saturday night, I think this extra investment may pay off for nine. I do think 10 should consider adding The Project to Saturday’s.

But there is a need for a re run Saturday night movie? Okay.

I guess I’m just surprised you want to go to the trouble of having a go at a network for programming something that you personally don’t have to watch if you don’t want to.

What’s to gain?

You and certain others alike on here just prove we really are in the age of outrage.
