COVID-19: Melbourne/Greater Victoria Re-Opens

How so?

They have only been a thing since the start of this week.

My employer issued us letters stating we are essential workers and travelling for work months ago, but they are no longer good enough under this permit system.

I got a weird email from my Barber tonight saying that they can now do house calls. Surely this is not allowed… or is it?

Not allowed in stage four.

Hmm…who took that photo?

Certainly not!

Tomorrow’s press conference will be interesting…

Bill Shorten’s wife Chloe?

You are only meant to shop 1 person per household per day…

Apparently it’s the Moonee Ponds Coles that is bring renovated, which is why they are low on stock.

Literally anyone else in the store could have taken it… an unrelated customer… a staff member… anyone…

After Daniel Andrews said in today’s press conference that lawn mowing and garden maintenance is not allowed under stage 4 restrictions, Penman was forced to write to his staff and franchisees in Melbourne metro asking them to stop work from today. He has not ruled out legal action, arguing guidelines from Department of Health and Human Services that his staff and franchisees could still operate.

What a fool.

I’ve known several people, all unknown to one another, who have worked for Penman in one form or another over the years. Not one has anything good to say about him.

Business groups have held online meetings with Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas regarding reduction of the number of workers in warehouses and distribution centres from Saturday, fearing it could disrupt the supply chain nationally and even cause food shortage.

Victoria Police issued 176 fines for the past 24 hours. 51 were for failing to wear a face covering, while 55 were for curfew breaches.

• Four people breaching curfew eating McDonalds on a footpath
• A male buying snacks at 2:30am from a convenience store
• A male out walking in Bayswater North without a face covering and more than 5km from home

To be fair, why is the store open for customers to buy snacks?

There is still a population of people who need to work and eat during the late hours. Ambos and Police come to mind. Assume it’s small amount.

Clearly doesn’t give two shits about lockdown.

Reports of 471 new cases in Victoria today. At least it’s lower than yesterday. I hope masks can at least start having some affect now and give us less days of peaks until we start seeing the impact of restrictions in another week or so.

During curfew hours (8pm to 5am) you must stay home but you can leave your house for work, essential health, care giving or safety reasons.

An exemption for tobacco pedlars to the COVID-19 restrictions on the Victorian Health Department website

despite the same website stating the product causes numerous illnesses and deaths.

I’m sure they’ve helped what could have been a continuing surge in cases, but based on the daily data and trending 7 day average the masks seem to have done very little to contibute to a reduction in cases :frowning:
