COVID-19: Melbourne/Greater Victoria Re-Opens

i think what you got told is wrong its not all of victoria. its just metro and mitchell shire

How would you know? It hasn’t been announced yet.

listenting to dans pressiers: if it was to come to pass it would only be in metro melbourne and mitchell shire

Except that the virus has now spread to regional Victoria so who knows what’s on the table now.

as iam not going to play the regional vs metro game . but even dan has says him self he wants to jelously protect the numbers in regional and rural victoria. hence the restrcitons of the geelong shire corridors to not alow family and friends . and the wearing of masks to become mandantory from monday

I said it might be all of Vic

Same source that told me about mandatory masks - I wouldn’t publish it if I wasn’t confident in the source.

Didn’t you flout stage 4 rumours weeks ago?

I think we are all aware that there will be further measures. Dan made that clear yesterday. What they involve I guess we’ll wait and see. I’d rather an announcement today to just get on with it if there are any further changes.

Around 390 cases today is being reported today. It’s a drop at least.

No. I didn’t.

If the transport industry is being notified, does it mean deliveries will be banned under stage 4? Won’t it lead to another scramble for essentials like toilet paper, pasta etc?

I’m assuming they mean transport like buses, trams etc not food delivery.

Sorry it was the 5km from residence rule you mentioned a few weeks ago that I meant.

Which has nothing to do with what Puggo is saying now…

I’ve been saying if that the Victorian Government wants people to travel less, it should reduce frequencies on public transport around Melbourne. However it will mean more compensation for operators as many drivers will have to be temporarily stood down.

i now a lot of people here in ballarat and me being NOT ONE : would be glad if public transport got shut down in melbourne. there are heaps of rumors going around about people coming for certin things but then end up doing more then they shold of

My point is that Puggo’s source was wrong in the past.

We don’t even know what stage 4 means. Dan said yesterday there will likely be further restrictions based on analysing data. It could mean anything.

Seems cosy with some state Libs, wouldn’t surprise me if they put a little sauce on top if they’re his sources. Any news media amateur or professional should be holding off on this kind of stuff. Only causes panic and confusion amongst the public who take the news media as gospel and then wonder why we weren’t at stage 4 months ago.

which is ridiculous. Even if there was a stage 4 there would still be a need for transport, largely to allow essential workers to get to work. And people will still rely on transport for access to shops, medical facilities, pharmacies, etc.

I think the last thing anyone should be basing any significant decisions on is rumours.

Public transport would be one of the last things to close. We’re a very long way from that.

If the unsubstantiated rumour has anything credence, it will be freight. But have they found that to be a major source of spread?
