COVID-19: Melbourne/Greater Victoria Re-Opens

Hopefully this isn’t anything to be concerned about.

Victorian Department of Health revealed that yesterday there were 2 local acquired cases and one in hotel quarantine.
Earlier, DH added more exposure sites at Melbourne’s north, including Broadmeadows and Pascoe Vale.

After two days straight now of only 1-2 new locally acquired cases, surely we can lift some of the extreme rules such as compulsory mask wearing outdoors? (I understand wearing them indoors though).

I am sure some of these will be lifted after the 5 day lockdown. No need to lift things until the end of that.

Today’s two locally acquired cases are linked to that positive case that attended the Function in Coburg.

So linked back to the Holiday Inn cluster.

No gun boats, but your arrival still needs to be declared to ABF (customs) and Department of Agriculture (responsible for quarantine) who will perform a pratique on the vessel or private aircraft upon arrival and possible further inspections and a result of particular declarations.

The new exposure sites listed from these cases are from 4-6 days ago so probably not a concern either.

We are getting that small expected trickle of cases now from direct contacts. Still no signs that this cluster has blown beyond what the tracing team have cast their net around.

However I wonder if they want the trickle at zero by Wednesday. If still 2-3 cases from this cluster on Wednesday, not sure if they will continue waiting or keep it going.

What was this?

brett said there if there are still cases as long as there linked and in quarintine

An unnamed function centre in Coburg.

This lockdown isn’t about the daily number of cases. It’s about buying time to ensure that the wool is wrapped around all potential transmission. If all cases by Wednesday are all known contacts and there has been no unknown/wider spread detected, then there is no reason not to lift the lockdown.

It was mentioned in the press conference yesterday as some sort of small private function, but as they know everyone that attended it hadn’t been listed as an exposure site.

Is it different to the 426 Sydney Rd exposure site or are they the same?

and vicdh just tweeted there are 21 active cases, not 22

looks like today presser won’t be with premier but the health minister

Do you know when it will be held?

Yeah any time? I feel like I’m back to wasting my mornings in lockdown waiting for Press conferences. At least previously they were more consistently around 11am.

Apparently Dan Andrews won’t be attending today’s conference.
