Also apparently most of the crowds that gathered outside (and had some arrests) were part of one of the same anti-government groups that were involved in the initial protests, Chadstone “protest” etc. Of course most weren’t wearing masks either. I’m not sure if they were behind organising it or if they just latched onto it when they heard about it.

It’s Victoria’s job to enforce their inbound border restrictions, be they domestic or international. If they don’t want international arrivals coming through via other states that have opened up then it’s their job to put processes in place to prevent/manage this.
Yet this says otherwise.
But overnight Victoria’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) confirmed there were 17 passengers, and that the department “does not have legal authority to detain the travellers on arrival”.
“Victoria has not agreed to a travel bubble arrangement with New Zealand and did not expect to receive international travellers as a result of NSW making that arrangement,” DHHS said in a statement.
“The Victorian Government has made it clear to the Commonwealth that we expect NZ passengers who have not undertaken quarantine will not be permitted to board flights in Sydney bound for Melbourne.”
Seems that the Victorian Government did their bit. This falls back on the Federal Government/Border Force.

It was all just a massive chance for Andrews to heap all this shit on Canberra for once. Did you not see the smirk and tone of voice. He was loving standing there with millions watching blasting Dutton and Co.
Well I guess border force can only blame themselves for taking 18 hours to get the cards to Vpol. No real urgency right there for such a important government department. Watch the feds avoid Stefanovic etc next week to avoid any confrontation.

The Kiwis who went to Melbourne should be treated like any Australian (or other visa holder) who decided to fly from Sydney to Melbourne.
They shouldn’t have been treated as international arrivals in Melbourne - they are INTERSTATE arrivals.
They almost certainly would have been aware of the consequences of doing so.
